Im having a couple of bows being made and im having snake skins put on them. I would really like to see some of your skined bows or maybe tell me what looks good. These are the first custom bows i have ever had made.
Wanted copperheads but they are hard to come by.
Joe,
Do a thread search for snake skinned bows. You should find quite a few pics.
Here is a set of Diamondbacks I just finished up on my wifes bow.

JD of whisperstik bows has a set of copper heads on his personal osage recurve. im not one for skins but that bow looks awesome. mail him for some pics or i will see if i can get a hold of him to post
I am also a fan of Copperhead skins, although I have seen some Bull snakes that turned out very well. I'd love to have a bow done with a red King snake. Below is a Morrison with Copperheads and the King snake I mentioned.

I just found a website that sells exotic skins, i wonder if python skins on a bow would look good.
Give me a couple days to finish my wife's bow----i'm using Saharan Rock viper--pretty cool skin, definitely different. :archer:

J.D. Berry used to use a lot of Boa and Python, pretty cool but I like Prairie Rattler the best. I'll see if I can find pics of the Shawnee I put Prairies on.

HATE TO RAIN ON THE PARADE. BUT MANY OF THE SNAKES MENTIONED HERE ARE PROTECTED SPIECES IN MOST STATES
(sorry about the caps).
And no, I'm not a PETA or animal rights member.I'm just stating a fact.
Man I love a snaked limb on a bow!!  Good stuff.
I'M GLAD THE SNAKE ON MY BOW DIDN'T LIVE IN ONE OF THOSE STATES!
Western diamondback rattler I put on my Martin X-200.

Here's my Crow Creek Blackfeather with Cane Brake skins.

By the way, I've found that you can rejuvenate/enrich the skins color by applying an annual layer of Montana Pitch Blend. They do tend to fade and/or stress whiten over time.
Kyle
OK......here we go; only problem is thateither the Tru-oil or the gun-stock wax I used kinda took some of the white out and gave it an off color----didn't notice it untill today in the sun. luckily my wife doesn't mind--she said it adds to the "rustic" look of a self-bow:

My JD Berry 'Serpentine' with Burmese Python. Not a real good pic, but the skins are darker than shown if a bit faded over time. Bow is over ten years old too.
