I came across a good friend of mine while out shopping with my wife and we naturally started talking about hunting;I asked about how his bowhunting went this past season and he informed me that he didn't go;I knew how much he loved to go bowhunting so I asked why he didn't go and he began to explain that he was laid off from work and his compound bow needed new strings and cables and he did not have the money(over 120.00)to put them on;
I invited him out to our place and when he got there I strung up a Bear kodiac {50lbs@28 in} and he began to shoot some arrows and it ended up that we both shot for several hours; during this time we both had a blast and he seemed to forget about his troubles;at the end he started to hand me the bow and arrows back but I told him that the bow needed a good home and handed it back to him; he cried like a newborn baby and told me that he couldn't believe that anyone would do that for him;
Sure feels good to do something for someone in need; since then, he has came out several times to shoot the bow and has informed me that he sold his compound; the money went to pay bills and buy some things that his baby needed;
We have ourselves another traditional bowhunter..... :campfire:

Wow, good on you.
Its great to see good people doing nice things!
Barry, it's good people like yourself that make this country strong and will be the main catalyst to repairing the present problems, not goverment! Please do me a favor, when it comes hunting season, don't forget this gentleman may need help with his tag costs. Our state govts. have seem to forgot it takes money to hunt legally. Don't feed the hungry alone, some want to help feed themselves. God bless you, and good shootin, Steve

You know....As I read that, I couldn't help but think how many others were thinking up something they could do to help (prior to reading of your gesture).
In my short time here, I can without hesitation say there are some remarkable human beings in this forum (and in the traditional community, in general). I'm happy to have met the ones I have, and God willing I hope to meet a lot more of you.
When I read stories like this, I also often wonder who gleaned more from the occurrence. ;)
Ya did good.
Great story. Thanks. There are some truly fine folks on here.
Jeff,
Having had a similar experience of being able to give a bow to a guy who needed one I can tell you that it's probably even money on who gets more from the event. There are few feelings as good as being able to do something for someone who needs it - OK maybe I was wrong - maybe it's even better to be able to be on the giving end.
As Tom said, OUTSTANDING!!!
And as Dragon rider said-" There are few feelings as good as being able to do something for someone who needs it".
