Apache is just south of Columbus. I'll check the 3-d schedule and see what is happening and where for next weekend.

Sam,
It doesnt look like any of the local clubs are having shoots. If you want to spend the day doing a little exploring, you could head down to Old Man's Cave and hike around that place with the family and then shoot the public 3d range. It was new and very nice when I was there last summer. It would be a little over an hours drive for you, but it might be worth it.

Bob Morrison is a short drive outside Columbus.  Maybe you could give him a call and try out some bows.

Morrison is out in Newark - not too far away.  Deer Creek (a bit south of the City) has a decent and free archery range with conventional targets (10 - 40 yards in 5 yard increments, if I recall correctly) and an "archery trail".  I think there are 14 or 15 targets at intervals along a pretty trail - kind of fun and the price is certainly right.

North of the city, close to Delaware, a retired Marine runs a sporting goods shop ( Delaware Sports Center -  4059 Oh-37 E, Ste C, Delaware, OH  43015 ) that, while it's not really a trad shop, typically tends to have a fair number of recurves and longbows.

If you plan to stump shoot on anything other than private land (and maybe even there), you probably ought to consider purchasing a small game license.  I think you can get a 3 or 7 day one ( the odnr site would say for sure ) and groundhogs, coyotes and wild boar (if any) are always in season.
