Do you know what wood he was using. It looks a lot like out Hop Hornbeam (Ostrya virginiana).
That looked like a very exciting blow-up! Glad he wasn't hurt.

Odd, I had to laugh out loud as this has happened to me with a yew bow. Mine was in 11 pieces, his only 9 pieces. Very exiting and fast, surprised that the camera caught the action. Nice bow before the indecent.

AARRRGGGGHHHHHhhhhh!
No translation needed. Beautiful bow, wonderful tiller, gnarly wood, love that juniper....
what sudden sorrow and loss!

I have a healthy respect for the nerve of the shooter, rock solid and steady! He's the guy I want to see walking up if I've been run over by a bus. Uh, if he knows how to stop bleeding and stabilize a spinal cord.

Wow! That shot was taken with a Sony DSC-W70 run of the mill camera you could get at Wal-Mart! I was thinking someone was shooting at five frames per second or something. That shot is one in a million to get.

Shame to see something so pretty gone in an instant. =0(

Anecdotal evidence for my contension that most parts of a broken bow fly away from the shooter.

The part attached to the top end of the string being the exception.

That's amazing how the guy hasn't even flinched yet. Just his hand has started to move. One in a million for sure. oh yeah, nice bow. I had one go into only two pieces unless you could the inch long splinter that somehow ended up between my knuckles. Glad he wasn't hurt.

Wow, what are the odds of that
Kodak moment becoming a Kodak moment.

Not as visual as that but have been there before.  :D

This was my first wood bow.It was a hickory backed ipe that had the backing too thin.If you look close near the window you can see the tip of the top limb just before it exits through the glass. I guess a 70lb bow gets good penitration even if there is no arrow.  :biglaugh:

Ouch! Note to self: Don't try makin bows outa trees. These things are scary. Kinda like riden a motorcycle, you know it's going to bite you, just not when.  :scared:    :scared:  Glad guy is ok.

:D   What is bad I had been shooting the bow for 3 days. Was really proud of getting a shooter on my first try.I was trying to get a full draw picture to post and my wife was killing me trying to work the camera. She did get this picture however.  :clapper:  I had an even better picture that I lost due to a computer crash. It involved a rope tied to my waist trying to get a picture on the tillering tree.Tip...always make sure there are no arrows shafts laying on the floor if you are pulling a bow with a rope toed around you. They don't hold up when your big butt hits the ground and pulls them to about 48".  ;)
