I bought this Bob Lee Signature recurve for my wife for her birthday. (Thank You Rich, aka; Downwind Lefty) I couldn't wait until June so I gave it to here last week for our 24th wedding anniversary! I also promised to skin it for her with the skins I bought at Denton Hill last year from Gary Davis. After shooting it all last week I was finally able to get it away from her long enough to skin it this afternoon.
This was my first time skinning limbs and let me tell ya it was a breeze! If anybody is still up in the air about trying this, don't hesitate to give a try. My wife hasen't seen it yet since she had to work today but I'm sure she is gonna be excited when she does.
What do all you folks think?

Oh, BTW the specs on the bow are, 35#'s @ 28" and 62" long
The colors match perfectly. I bet Your Wife likes it. Good job on the bow and congratulations on Your Anniversary. My Wife and I celebrated Our 26th in March.
John, that is beautiful, very nice work, I'm sure the wife will love it!!! I've done a couple bows now and a tomahawk handle, bow quiver ect... I love working with snakeskins, It really isn't too hard!!

nice job John, and at 62" I bet that bow is a real sweet shooter.
I think you're gonna' get a big 'ol wet kiss. Awesome job!
I've got a Samick bow I plan on skinning. Not too expensive if I mess up the first run.
Larry,
Yep, it does shoot reeealy nice. I think it took about a doz.shots or so to get her tuned just right to the arrows she shoots!
Oh and since she is a lefty too I was able to drop the string a few times myself. It's a very smooth shooting recurve.
Fido Dog, A big ol wet kiss eh? Ya think? :bigsmyl:
Skins would look good on your Samick.
You wont mess it up. It's too dang easy to do as long as you take your time.
Good job, the skins are Diamondbacks though not Prairie Rattler.
Looks great!
Ya know, Funny you should say that Mike.
A good friend of mine stopped by to give me a few pointers on how to apply the skins said the same thing to me. He said they didn't look anything like his Montana Prairie skins. Not greenish enough. Since I started this thread I've been doing a little research and I believe that you and my good friend are right. I'm gonna have to change my title.
John,
You really did a nice job putting those skins on. Will you be at the Oxford shoot? Lori and I are planning on making it if it is meant to be.
Take care,
Craig
Hi Craig,
Thanks. Yeah I plan on going to the Oxford shoot. I think my son and I will be pitching a tent there again this year. Hope to see you guys there.
Take it easy
JOHN
Nice job John- sounds alot like my 62" Lee What are the spec's.
Captain Bill - Tradgang 4
LOL, Hi Captian Bill. The specs on this little beauty are 62"long and 35#'s @ 28"
Wow, that's a real good looking bow! I like how the limbs look like they match the riser in color.
Yeah that is the best part. You can't really see it that well in the pic but, around the black outline of the diamonds is another goldish outline that matches the gold accents in the riser. Really nice!
WOw very nice - she will love it
Jer Bear
Wow!!! Very nice looking set of Diamondbacks.
Bill

Came out great John.Maybe you could help me skin my buffalo bow if I can find two big garden snakes.
Garden snakes eh Ray. LOL, I'd be happy to help ya skin that buffalo bow you made. What about water mocasin?
I'm doing the finish coat work now. I'll get some more pics of just the limbs up in a day or two. A good finish really makes the skins pop!
Ray, I saw a couple of gardeners at least 12" at my place. I can set up and trap them for you if you want.
Bill
Save them babys Bill.I like the wood look on the buf bow.Buffalo don,t like snakes.
