Title: Easton Stalker Arrows
Post by: Ssamac on May 08, 2009, 05:22:00 PM
Picked up some Easton Stalker Alum arrows at Farm King (by accident) - they were on sale for 2.69 each with nock and insert installed. Had vanes on them so I have to refletch but still worth it for messing around and letting my sons lose them. Anyway, they are too long for me so wanted to shorten them. The nocks are tapered glue on so that end can't be shortened, maybe. The Arrows came with inserts installed, look like black plastic. Can they be removed, arrow cut and then replaced? Anyone deal with this kind of arrow/insert before?

Suggestions how to shorten?

Alot depends on what glue was used to put them in. In my personal experience I would spend a few dollars and buy some alum. inserts and throw the plastic ones away.

Well that's the easy part. Are these inserts part of the shaft or do you think they pull out?

No they are not part of the shaft, they were made of carbon and can be a pain to get out but justr leave a field point in, heat it with low hear and pull after a few minutes... do not apply heat directly to the insert or it will melt...what size is the arrows ????

You can cut from the nock end and install uni-bushings and uni-nocks.

those inserts will be ruined when you extract them, but can be replaced with aluminum inserts for about $3.00 a dozen.
you can cut the shafts with a tubing cutter like plumbers use.

Heat them and pull them out, then throw them in the garbage.  Get aluminum inserts and you will be fine.
