Title: Cascade Whitetail Hawk
Post by: matt61 on May 04, 2009, 05:35:00 AM
I am thinking about buying a 56" whitetail hawk,if you have one can you tell me what you think of it.I allready have two Golden hawk magnums which are probably the only ones in Australia, one I am going to sell because it is a bit to heavy for me.They are beautiful bows and draw so smooooooth, which surprises everyone I let have a shot with them.I sure would appreciate some feedback on Whitetail Hawk.
Thanks
Matt

Wish I had real answers for you.  I've considered the 56" bow for awhile but with the Nighthawk riser.  I'd also be interested in what folks had to say about them.  What I do know is that Cascade has been in business for quite a while and has a good following.  I have never heard one bad thing about the bows or company.  Also, I've only seen one or two of the 56" bows for sale.  You know if there was bad news it would surface quickly.  I suspect that the longer bow will shoot as well as the ones you already have and may add a little more stability which could only improve the shooting characteristics.  I hope someone with experience with this particular model will chime in.

Matt I believe that the whitetail hawk is a twin to Chekmate's Hunter 56".Possibly a little phenolic in the riser but geometry is very similar. Well let me tell you, anyone would be hard pressed to find a sweeter shooting 'hunting' bow. Short, smoothdrawing and very forgiving for such a shorty. Honestly it out shot many of the, supposed to be 'highend' bows on the market.  Buy it,I'm sure you won't regret it!  Mo.

My buddy took this blacktail doe last fall.  He loves his 56" Cascade and is not going to get rid of it anytime soon.  They are very smooth and accurate and have manners of a much longer bow.  You will not be disappointed...especially if you like the 52" Cascades.

I love the 52" Night Hawk. it is the most accurate bow I have ever shot and I am not a fan of recurves but wanted a short one for turkey. I am now thinking that it will be my go to bow for everything. I had quarter size groups right out of the shipping box. I have never had five out of six arrows slap so hard together and so tight as this bow made them. You wont be disappointed at all and Steve is a great guy and stands behind his work. The Night Hawk comes with a life time warranty.

I had a look at the Checkmate website. The checkmate hunter II looks like a twin of Cascade whitetail hawk, you would almost think they are made by the same person.

Matt,
They are made by the same bowyer (Marc Moriez).  The bows sold as Cascade are made to the specifications of Steve Gorr.  Then, it is my understading, he applies his own finish.

The 52 and 48 inch bows are all Steve's and do not have a Check-Mate counterpart.

Chad Weaver (LBR on here) is the Check-Mate rep. and is an easy guy to talk to.  You can contact him by PM or through the Recurves.com web-site. He could help you with any specifics.

It was my understanding that the Cascade Whitetail Hawk was equvalent to the Chek-Mate Hunter-I.
