Title: Silvertip & Strings ?
Post by: Curtis Haden on May 03, 2009, 01:43:00 PM
I've got my flame retardant suit on, so no worries...     :smileystooges:

How many, if any, of you Schafer Silvertip shooters use a padded loop, D97 (or similar) string on your non-FF Tips?  Anyone had a bow damaged that you could directly attribute to the string?

Been doing it for years, no problem,  Use decent weight arrows and watch your nocks-  don't want any dry fires.

i doubt you would have a problem as long as you pad the loops and use heavy arrows.

however.. personally, i wouldn't risk it. i think the bow is plenty fast without FF, and more quiet. i actually use dacron on my FF silvertip. just my preference...

Well, turns out to be a moot point anyway...  I got the bow in the mail today, and I'm scrambling just to try to find some arrows stiff enough to shoot out of it (with the B50 string).

I see what all the fuss is about.  This Silvertip is a sweeeeeettt shooter!  Quiet, smooth, fast... no need to upgrade the string.

 :knothead:

Thanks guys!
