I am going to recieve some Flu flu fletched POC arrows. These are crowned and crested beautifully. I am not into flu flus and almost half are fletched with 4 fluflu feathers. I want to replace with regular 5" shield cut feathers.
Is this easy to do without damaging the nice cresting and crowning?
I would find someone with a feather burner and burn them to the shape you want. Gary
Second the Burn idea. You could also make a templet to cut them yourself. Use low adhesion masking tape to hold the feather, trace the templet and cut with sharp scissors.
I really don't want or shoot 4 fletched arrows.
So you think the crown will be easy to damage?
I'll third the burner,I do that all the time reshaping feathers.I'll take 5" or 5.5" die-cuts and trim them to four inch and just burn the front end to make some youth arrows or if I want 4x4 for some of my arrows. It's very hard to remove feather on nicely crested arrows without causing alttile damage to the cresting.
If you remove the fletching from the arrow you will pull up some paint. Now if they are put on with tape, You'll be OK.
Thanks everyone. I was afaid that would be the case
Hey BC... A 4 fletched arrow will fly better then an arrow fletched with 3 feather's.. is there some reason u dont like a 4 fletched arrow ?.......
I also would just Burn then as well.....

Well, I got a set, I like consistency, like all the arrows to weigh simularly, less fletch contact with shelf, looks, etc, etc.
So, if the feathers are on there with tape, how do you get them off without causing any damage to the crown dip/cresting? Just wondering, cause I use fletchtape and wraps and may want to remove the feathers on them someday. :)
can someone post pics of these arrows

Cut or burn.
Even the tape will lift some paint.
Maybe....a syringe and baby oil or some other lightweight oil; right at the glue line.. ?
Well, maybe I can find someone with a burner at a event I am going too in Baltimore in a few weeks.
