I was very fortunate and was able to take a 24 minute Tom this morning. Great bird that has to weigh well over 20#s, 10" beard, and >1 1/4" spurs (verified limb hanger). Five yard shot without a blind. TimberHawk longbow and WW broadhead. He was pretty distracted by the 4 hens 10 yards out in the field.

May 15th is our bowfishing opener and the warm weather and clear water had plenty moving. I can't wait!
Ishi, I'll be out after the stripers this afternoon and tomorrow. They are up pretty good right now and a big pod of big ones moved in on Thurs. Good luck on the birds.

Nice bird...no blind...outstanding!!! I hope I can pull off the same thing this weekend.
Great job Terry...real nice bird....
My morning started out with my friend Vinny, who never bow killed a turkey. We setup his decoy, climbed behind a fallen tree...perfect setup. At 6am a gobble echoed through the woods.
I started my sweet talking and then 2 more gobbles! More than one bird...roughly 15 minutes later, 25 yds away were 2 good size toms and 1 slammer bird.
Displaying, strutting...gobbling...but they wouldn't come in. Having just one decoy out just doesn't cut it. I would have preferred no decoy and honestly felt the birds would have walked right into our lap.
As the 3 toms moved off, I headed to ambush spot #2....we setup and called for roughly 30 minutes before another gobble shocked us back to reality.
A good ten minutes of calling and down the hill he comes. Another super display and strut...only 25 yds from me...wide open...I was waiting for Vinny to shoot but from his angle, he couldn't see the entire bird.
When I decided hell...I'm shooting, the tom decided if the hen was coming to him....he's leaving. He offered no shot and we let him walk.
We left the decoy behind and "walked and yelped" for 2 hrs. Had one more encounter with a lone tom but he never showed his face.
Noon time came too quick, so we left the woods and headed home in the rain. tomorrow will be different...going solo, no decoy and maybe I can catch a break.
Congrats, Terry. No blind...what an accomplishment...
Nice bird Terry! Do you give lessons/seminars? LOL! Congrats my friend! Mike

Super hunt Terry, really nice bird.
Very frustrating morning....my landscaper gave me permission to bowhunt an area close to home. Went in last night and roosted a tom.
5:30 am I eased in, setup and waited. Thirty minutes later a few gobbles echoed the valley. I decided to stay here in one spot and call sporadically. I sat tight, calling and enjoying the rainy morning. Around 7am, I caught movement. A nice tom was slowly working his way towards me, very silently.
Some soft calling and he turned...gobbled then started displaying. God I love that sight...35 yds out. I was very patient with this bird and he kept moving in. Suddenly, he was off running, then took to the air! Coyote! The critter came snaking his way through and was after this bird.
I left the area, quietly moving into another spot closer to an open orchard. 10am...I got aggressive with some calling and a gobbler repsonded about 100 yds off. Cool...sit tight and wait. Maybe 45 mintues later 4 deer came busting by..Now what? Ten minutes later I can yelping...closer...closer...here comes a gun hunter...walking and yelping and not being too quiet.
I let him get 15 yds from me when I flagged him. Scared the Cr..out of him. He waved, kept walking and never stopped yelping with his box call. I packed up and came home. Tomorrow morning, heading back behind the house again. Keep the faith and good luck guys...
Blinds????? WE don't need no STEENKING BLINDS!!!!! LOL
CONGRATULATIONS Terry and Curt!!!!!!!!!!
