my best friend on earth, Ryan, is a Specialist in a Stryker Unit at Ft. Lewis, his unit is going to kandahar, afganistan on july 15th. he is leaving 2 children behind.
for a going away present i am building him this Yew Longbow. it is right around #75 @ 28" but is not quite finished yet. (final tillering.)

Hardest thing I ever did was turn around and walk away from my family to board a flight. I knew I would be gone for a year before I would see them again.
I've known others that have been gone longer and more often but it never got easier. There are thousands more that I don't know that have done the same thing.
People like you that do just a little extra really boosted my moral. I'm sure that bow will mean a whole lot to him.
