Now maybe I haven't been paying proper attention, but this is the first 66 Kodiak I ever owned that was a two piece vertical laminate. This one is bubinga and golden rosewood. All the others I have had were solid bubinga risers with bubinga caps. Got this just this week from a fellow Tradganger.

that is cool looking....even the limb wedges are effected with the two woods.
I had one I sold last year out of financial need that was olid rosewood, highly figured rosewood.I've seen I-beam laminates but this is the first I've seen like this too.
Bear didn't waste much and tended to use what was on hand at the time. I've seen a few bows that have laminated risers (own one), though seeing that much contrast in one is pretty cool.
Sweet bow. What are the specs? Can't make 'em out in the pic...
60", 45#.
Cool bow George!
George, Nice Bow and it was my pleasure doing business with you. Good Shooting! John
Looks like they made it out of left over wood they had laying around... I really like that its different.. You could call it " Left Overs"..lol. Nice old bow and a good find!!
It was good to meet you also John.
George,
That's the first one I have seen like that. A 66 Kodiak is on my to get someday list and I don't care if it's pink !
That's a dandy for the collection George, course I have close to the best 66', great original finish and 48#, which is good for old farts that appreciate a nice bow. :bigsmyl: Thanks for sharing that one, I hadn't seen one like that in a 66'.
Nice looking bow. Riser built like that with contrasting grains make for a very strong riser, especially in the fade out area. Martin made a lot of risers that way too.
I thought I'd bring this back up and show the one I just picked up. 1966 also, 66", 55#, LH. Oh, and it's a sandwich too. :)

bbassi, nice bow...how about a pic of the other side?
I deleted most of the photos, but did put a couple back in the original post up top in slide format.
I sold mine a while back.
