Does anybody know of a manufacturer of a hard case for a strung longbow? I e-mailed 3 rivers about the recurve case they have and it's long enough but not wide enough. I want something that will allow around 2 dozen arrows to be stored inside as well, similar to a compund setup.
I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for on my own and now I'm lokin' for :help: .

I always unstring my longbows, but I use a soft cloth cover and a fishing rod tube. The arrows(w/o broadheads) can slide in around the bow for additional padding.

I was looking for one of those a while back but gave up because (in my opinion) they are too expensive for what you get and they just didn't have what I was looking for. I am actually thinking about making one similar to the unstrung hard case Three Rivers sells. If you don't feel like actually making one, I am sure you can search around and find someone nearby who is handy with a saw that you can give your specs/plans to and they can do the job for you for much cheaper than you can buy one.

A tube takes up less space than a case for a strung bow anyway. I never travel with a strung bow, unless it's in my hand and I'm on foot.

I'm kinda new but i though the bow needs to relax when not in use. AS was suggested to me " when you rest the bow should rest" kind of thing. Unless in the woods or at a shoot my bows are always unstrung.

I would not recommend traveling with a strung bow.
You can make a travel case from PVC tubing. either cut it half length wise and attach a hinge and clips to keep it closed or put a glue on cap on one end and a removeable cap on the other.

I was thinking the same thing. Do they make any metal gun cases long enough. I figure I could bring a few unstrung bows and arrows in it?

McgeeM has a good idea or the fishing pole case. I have a black widow longbow case which was very cheap, works well and has a nice opening system for storing your glove and bracer.

I just don't want to unstring my bow every time I get back to the truck and drive to the cabin (10 minute drive). I usually ride with a few folks and in the front of the truck it's too big and there's always a bunch of stuff in the back, one of my fellow archers is paralyzed from the mid-torso down and his wheel chair is rolling around back there as well. I don't really plan on traveling with the bow strung from my house I just did't want to restring it every time I get in and out of the truck.

52" hard gun cases are about the longest I have every seen once in awhile 54" still to short. You best bet is have a nice wood case made custom for it and your arrows. Having it made guarantees it will be just as you wanted. Granted thats a must have item.

You can make one out of PVC. I made one with the light weight pvc of 3in. used for septic tanks. I lined the inside with a rubber pipe insulation that fit perfect on the inside. Cushioned the ends with foam. One ends has a screw cap. Then got some canvas at fabric place and made a cover for the pvc.

Black Widow sells one that telescopes for different bow lengths. I believe it was actually originally intended as a fishing rod case.
