A friend of mine has an
Allegany recurve bow that has twisted limbs.
I told him I would fool with it, and
see what I can do. Last night before
I closed the cave down, I realized that
the brace height was 9".
I think that is the problem.
I have not researched it yet, but is it
possible that it is 9"?
The brace height might be off but I don't think that is going to help you with the twisted limbs.
Yeah, I was going to try clamping it and adding heat
with hot water, or a hot air gun or something.
I haven't really got too far into that yet.
When you try to straighten the limb, go slow, and don't use too much heat. Hot water or your wife's hair dryer is about right. 9" brace height sounds excessive to me. The string should lie in the grooves in the limbs, allowing the limbs to curve away from the bow in a graceful arc.
Thanks
