Last year we had a bunch from eastern Mass and those who flew into Boston spend the afternoon and dinner at my house before meeting up with the western Mass gang in New Hampshire. Same invitation is open this year and I'll try to have both eyes open :)
Anyone who is planning on flying into Boston, we'll arrange pick ups, transportation, sleeping accommodations on return trip...Doc
-
Hey Nate, I want to see some pictures of a BIG BEAR. Wish I was making the trip with you again this year. Good luck to you and the rest of the guys. Doc, are you bringing your bear tracking dog this year? Paul, how are you doing? Shoulders better I hope.
-
hey Doc are you saying we can actually come over to your house ??? holy smokes I may be flying into Boston myself if we're going to be staying at your place.Fact is I got plenty of time off and was thinking I could spend 2-3 weeks hanging out with you and Molly before the gang arrives ??? yeah baby I'll be landing at 12:45 pm tomorrow. Thanks Doc you da man....see ya soon bd
-
Bowdoc,
All set...I just made up your bed :) Plus the Bear Quest Girls are waitin' for some action...all shined up & dressed in orange ;) Doc

This is going to be a hard one to watch from the sidelines.
You guys are going to have another incredible trip! Just make sure you do your best to help feed the souls of us who are trying to live the hunt vicariously.
-
Hey Doc,
Are those the knives you'll be giving away for the biggest, smallest, ugliest and baldest bear? (I thought maybe we could have like a "bearhunt Goldilocks" this year or something)! Might be the only way I could win-I definitely shot the ugliest one once-had enough fur left for a coaster! :biglaugh: Your knives are beauties!
-
Doc I got the old A.L.I.C.E pack loaded and ready.I will be hitch hiking Seattle's intersate I-90 east bound about noon with a sign reading Boston or Bust. You'll know its me as I will be the only somewhat homeless looking guy wearing a back quiver and carring a braced up 1959 Bear Kodiak on said interstate.
Man I hope I make it before you guy's lieve for La Tuque.
Don't punish me here Doc and make sure you bring those little sweethearts with you when we head north.I love your design on the 2nd one down.Thats a good looking blade there Doc...see ya soon my brother.....bd
-
Hey Bowdoc- Can you carry that thing outside a case in Washington? Already packed once and trying to fine-tune it. Stuff left to get, but not much. Hey Curveman- drop me a line and we'll get a couple things together. I really need this trip; C'mon June!

-
Kip, You will definitely be missed and so will your culinary treats :notworthy: I guess I completely forgot about one foot knives...yes I would!
-
Matt, I sorry you won't be with us this spring as I have a little tribute to Stubby :D When Matt dressed out Stubby, I cleaned up his stub paw :scared: to see how he actually healed up from probably getting his paw caught in a snare...common practice in Canada as bears are considered vermin. He formed a complete and useful callus on the end of his radius & ulna bones. Obviously he did quite well that is until he ran into Matt's arrow!!! I gave Matt the larger callused bone and kept the smaller ulna.
I was really impressed with how well Stubby not only survived but became a very impressive dominate bear. Anyway part of him will be back in La Tuque this spring.
Not finished but I think this blade will come out nicely with Stubby's callus bone handle...Doc

Impressive!

-
Doc I would love to give stubby a try. That looks great.........bowdoc
-
Stubby would be proud!!!!!
Doc, I think I need to use the other leg bone on "The Knife". I might be asking for some pointers, "Like how do I do it" LOL.
-
The Stubby knife is very cool. The only R-rated knife in camp. I vote for someone to make a "penal sheath" for it! Good job Jeff. bw
-
Barry's got my vote
-
Barry, That was poor Stubby's paw not the swizzler :scared: Doc
-
Wouldn't want to get that in a snare. Ouch
-
I know.. I'm just going by looks. bw
-
Barry, I'd hate to look at your Rorschach results (ink blot tests)! I don't want to touch it now! :biglaugh:
-
HA HA- Looks more like "The" Bone than the bone itself! Hey Steve; maybe you could administer Rorshach test while we are in camp- see what kinda guys we're hanging with. Barry and Bowdoc are open books, LOL. Grant
-
The last time I had to do that test. The Doctor ended up buying several bows and bridge from me.He ai'nt been the same since.bd
-
bd, I heard after interpreting your tests, the doc was found curled up in a fetal position sucking his thumb! He quit shortly after as you say! :biglaugh:
To quote one of the world's great philosphers; Popeye: "I yam what I yam!" You exemplify that philosophy doc without apologies and are probably the healthiest one up there! 'Course, that's why I keep my doors locked!!" :D
-
He's never recoverd after seeing the bowdoc.
I love popeye too Steve thats what life is really about being what you'yam.bd
-
TTT
-
and then.....see ya real soon son..your father Ph.D.Archer Bowman
-
:knothead: What was I thinking not going this year?I think I'm going to cry. :( I will be expecting some good stories and pics. good huntin guys.
-
I will miss you hb-and our "snore wars!" :biglaugh:
-
HB it only gets better with time.Bear hunts are kind of like a fine whine or is that wine. They just keep getting better with age as does a bowhunter.
We will all miss you alot buddy.bd
-
Curveman cheats in the snore wars.He wakes you up by pulling the covers and then will commence to bring the house down. How do you compete with that?
-
Ah man, you're on to me! :scared:
-
I was spared by a 70mph wind in texas.Couldn't hear anything.
-
Up
-
I am bringing my own tent, I cannot sleep with snorers period. I have good plugs but they do not block it all out. Sorry but i need my rest! Shawn
-
Sounds wise. More than 73% of people snore.
-
you mean 73% of the people that are still alive for snoreing still snore ???? bd
-
:biglaugh: Who was that outlaw who shot a man for snoring? I believe it is part of Billy the Kid's legend but I may be wrong. People do act sometimes like you are doing it on purpose.
I personally believe that the reason Barry saw that monster bear last year was because he fell alseep in his treestand and the roar of the snoring seemed like a challenge to a monster bear while the smaller bears were afraid to approach and headed to my stand instead! :biglaugh:
-
That was John Wesley Hardin, Steve. Pretty good theory on Barry as well. Shaun probably has the right idea about the tent but I'd rather hear the guys snore than feed the skeeters. Getting closer and closer and not a minute too soon. GY
-
My therma-cell will work in my tent too!!! I have shared many a camp and I always sleep away from everyone for just one reason and that is the snoring. Looking good so far, just need to shoot a lil' more and get my broadheads ready to go. Shawn
-
Sounds Good Shaun,
How big a tent are you bringing ? Just so I can pick out a spot out of the way for it.
-
Small 3 man dome don't need much room at all. Thanks! Shawn
-
I recommend that you all bring a couple boxes of the mosquito coils for around camp. Same ingredient as the Thermacell, but about $2 for a box full of coils. Shawn, they work great in a tent.
-
Doc love your knives, hope you guys have a great hunt looking forward o the stories and pics.
-
won't be long now.bd
-
I have called in deer and hogs by snoring on stand, should work for bears too. Not sure what all the complaining is about, I almost never hear myself snore.
-
Up
-
I am going to miss hunting with yall this year, hopefully Grant will keep an eye on my spot for me. This sounds like it's going to be a great time, have fun and be safe.
I'll be back !!!
-
Howdy Hogdancer,
I can't believe you're doing the European vacation with the family instead of imbibing in single malt with me after the hunt like last year! Where are your priorities?! :readit:
-
yep, next year, I will even miss you and Hillboy snoring ! it would have been so easy for me this year too with Kevin going all I had to do was meet up with him, Oh well !
I have a new bow all glued up and I would love to have been able to try it out on a Quebec bear.
Shoot strait ! and take pictures !
-
we're going to miss you this year Thomas.bd
-
Gosh Guys, feel the love! We'll miss you T-Bone but you're right; I'll watch "your" spot, LOL. Don't worry Stevie, there'll be lots of reprobates to poach your Scotch. In fact, I'll sign up right now. For you first-timers and those not going- this is a hunt to build memories on. The best of times with the best companions. Grant
-
well not "my" spot but you know what I mean. Just shoot something and take pictures.
-
I know 'zactly what you mean T. In my mind it'll still be Hogdancer's spot. I'll take pics whether I kill anything or not but you can bet sweet patootie I'll be trying to kill something, LOL. We're gonna miss you Grant
-
you'll kill something Grant, I have NOOOO doubt !!!
-
I'll be going my EDL showed up today. So does this mean homeland security is NOT looking for the bowdoc ??? yahooooooooooooooooo bd
-
Yeah, bd but aren't those Canadian Game Wardens still hunting for ya? :bigsmyl:
-
I'am not sure about that Steve all I care about is getting across.I gotta remind Tom to bring my orange vest.I ai'nt going through that again.bd
-
Bowdoc,
You do not have to remind me to bring vest, the piece of spare orange FLAGGING RIBBON for you to use as vest is all packed !!!
-
The gamies told me its gotta be 400 inches not 4 inches...ribbon ai'nt gonna work.bd
-
All you gotta do is bring a pair of blaze orange suspenders. When needed you just stretch'em out to 400 inches. bw
-
I like it Uncle B I'll pick up a pair this weekend.bd
-
Hog dancer. That is a false allocation on the snoring on my part.I was only trying to defend myself. You know fight fire with fire. :help: Next year,I will be bauck
-
I surrender hill boy! I understand that you are only allowed to live in certain communities in Arkansas-the ones without sound ordinances, like near airports!
-
yeah you boy's keep that snoreing up and you will all be posted in different tree stands to sleep at night.Get some of those breath rite nasel strips...
Trust me if you ever sleep in the same room with Tom.You had better not let out one snore. He will get out of his bed walk over to your bed.Wake you from a deadass sleep with a sudden start by touching you and saying Donnie.Your heart is now beating 180 beats a minute.Kind of scares hell out of you.You say whats wrong is everything OK ??? he says you were snoreing and to stop.Trust me the rest of the night you had better not go under to deep or the next time he's beside your bed waking you.Well never mind....bd
-
won't be long now.You girl's been praticing at 2 yards ?????????? bowdoc
-
I could even hit you at the ranges I'm practicing at Don. GY
