Couldn't believe my eyes, when I logged on and saw the pic of me, my little girl, and first trad deer up on the top of the page!! :D
Deer don't come much smaller than that---most places I'd be laughed to death for posting a pic of a deer that small ---- here, I'm up on top of the page----Amazing!!!
Must be the little girl in her PJ's and huge smile that got it there! :archer:
I doubt you will ever get laughed at here, least, not for that. Nope. most of us are pretty tickled you got one. Size is only part of the equation. Sure don't look like that lil cutie cares a bit that this is a doe or not a monster.
Congrats
ChuckC
Anyone who would laugh at a trophy like that has no idea of what a trophy is! I loved it, and now would sure like to hear the story behind the picture!!
Yup, I'd be tickled pink to get that with trad gear, great trophy for sure!
Great banner! I shot an Everglades spike buck last year that would make that doe look like an Iowa giant!
Hunting is much more than the end result and that's the beauty of the folks here. Believe me your photo belongs where it is.
Nice going. Looks like you have 2 trophies there!
After 3 years of trying , got a doe and spike this year with a recurve . . First traditional bow kills .Have killed several with a compound . One bowhunter asked if I should have let the spike walk. I was so proud of it ,told him was thinking of getting it mounted . You should have seen the look on his face , ha. A true trophy is in the eyes of the individual hunter . Not the size of the deer , it is the work that goes into the hunting. Enjoy your trophy. Flinthead .
"Whip" I had posted the story earlier this year: this should be the link for the story: http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=070945;p=3
I definitely got no regrets on shooting the deer---I usually get does anyway: 4 bucks vs 20 does over the years since I started hunting---that's total with bow and guns; And only one "nice" buck out of the 4.
I never was one to wait for antlers--I'd LOVE to get a monster buck, but when I'm sitting there and a nice doe walks in front of me, I just can't seem to let her be----all looks the same in the freezer! :bigsmyl:
Ben
Gotta love this place. It celebrates the heart, not the ego.
I notice that the pic above yours is a doe as well. As a female, I find that refreshing. As a human, I think your daughter is one cute, happy, well-loved little girl! Your first trad kill, the hunt, the sharing with family...priceless, and the core of our being.
Killdeer  :clapper:
Ben I killed a doe late in the season Jan.,missed most of it b/c my father had a stroke in Oct. and passed late Nov.It really meant a lot to me,besides I never pass them up.Congrats on your pic I remember that post looks like you got her out of bed.Kip
Ben,
The picture of you and your daughter was so cool I'd have to admit I didn't pay any attention at all to how big the doe was or wasn't. And by the time she's telling that story to her kids it still won't matter how big it was. It will still matter that she was in the picture with you.
Well done, congrats to you and Bruce on you trophys! This place is the best!
Nice story! I brought it back up to go with the picture
Your banner partner Bruce is a good friend of mine - his doe is his first traditional kill as well, and I know he is just as proud of that as any deer anyone has ever killed. His story is on page 3 of this thread:

I think it's great!!! I always look forward to hunting does after the rifle season here in ND. I don't think they are any less of a trophy than a buck. If any of you want to come and hunt in the snow, give me a holler.
Great hunt great story and what a smile for her father.Thats traditional archery at its finest thank you Ben for sharing this one.bowdoc
Ben, lots of great comments already written...so I can only add this...I am a doe killer extraordinaire and dang proud of it! I love the horns but I love to take any deer with my stickbow even more.
Beautiful lil' lady too (the one in the purple gown) :D
Congrats Ben. The thrill for me when I shot that doe shown on the banner was unequaled and I also had family back at the cabin that made the celebration even sweeter. I too was shocked to see the picture posted. Thanks to all for all the help in achieving this first goal.
Awesome work Mate , any deer with a trad bow is a great achievment
My first trad was a button buck smaller than that. I got laughed at when I checked him in and was asked what in the #%!@$ did you shoot that thing for. It kinda makes me feel sad for them because they're missing the whole point of the hunt.
Wow, what a great community this place Is!!! I can just about gaurantee you wouldn't get these type of responses on any other hunting forums so my hats off to everyone here!! This type of hunting community Is the type of people I share my bow hunts with. Our little group of bow hunters Is proud of anything we shoot regardless of the size. As long as you the hunter/shooter Is happy about your harvest, were all happy.
Congratulation's on your deer, well done sir!!
That's a world class trophy in my book. Never did care much for antler soup - yuk!
It doesnt matter if that was the first deer or the tenth you have taken...What a trophy!! Period. My hats off to you sharing that experience with your daughter. Wether it was just for the picture, or the actual hunt itself...Good on you dad  :clapper: Some day I hope to be posing for a picture with my deer, along with my little princess as well!
TTT^^^
WOW >>>--------> This thread has really shown the WHY I love this site and Trad archery in general! Lots of friends, who I hope to meet some time, lots of knowledge, friendship, and good old fun! Best part---LOTS of people who share the same ideals I do about hunting that I am teaching my little girl---it's about the hunt; doesn't matter how big---but when you can have a deer SO CLOSE to you and still not get the shot you want and you just smile, pass the shot, and watch nature at its best----that's hunting----the shot and kill when it does come----that's the bonus. Cause then you're eating good!
Now it's time to go out and finsh my first bow---pics coming soon when I get it done. Still gotta finsh sanding it and applying finsh. I'm proud of my first try and my wife already wants one too.............
thanks guys ( and gals)
Ben
You are right on target BEN. What a blast to sometimes be sooooo close - and no shot! Gotta love it. Just gotta! And when it comes to "drag handles" who cares? I mean they are good for makin' buttons on a quiver I guess.......
... mike ... :archer: ...
Ben,
The real "Trophy Doe" in that picture is the little Princess in her PJ's.
