Well, I'm stuck in Washington,DC for 4 weeks, and it is already killing me. No clue where to shoot. I think I am good for the weekends, but would like to shoot at least a couple times during the week. Anyone know of any indoor ranges nearby? I am staying near the Walter Reed Army base in the north portion of DC.
Wanna shoot Wednesday?
Killdeer
pdk25 ....I would take killdeer up on her offer: :readit: ...Heck Kathy, if I didnt live so far i would love to shoot a couple of arrows with ya! :banghead:
Yes, yes, and yes! I'll send you a PM.
Heck, you might even tempt me into trying out a Widder! Well, maybe.
Killdeer :p
hang in there bud you will be back here soon enough so we can get some stumpin in!
the rain is crazy here anyhow...I haven't shot in a while b/c of it.
I have my hog hunt with Ray the weekend of May 8th and just saw that Barry is robin-hooding arrows now. Gotta stay in practice, so I'm not embarassed. :)
Hey, if you're embarrassed to go shoot with me...
:saywhat:
:knothead: :p
No way, Killie. I'll just have to make sure that you shoot first so you don't bust my arrows up.
I meant so that I won't be embarassed by my poor shooting when I go to Ray's. I'd have to be out of my mind to be embarassed about shooting with you.
You'll be on top of the world after seeing ME shoot!
:biglaugh:
It will be a little mucky and slidey out on the 3D course. Got boots? Heavy sneakers?
K~
Yep, I'm covered.
Don't wear yourself out Pat. Mike, Barry, and I are counting on you to drag out our hogs! ;) :D
Kathy..You can try my Widows...That will give them some much needed mojo
Tim, I'll be happy to help with the hog dragging. I just want to make sure that one of them is mine. :)
Hogs for everyone this trip.....
Hang in there Pat, You can do it !! Oh Yeah, NO MORE BRAIN FADES for me, the Horne's is stayin right here !! Now go and get those "oinkers" !!!
I could think of 10,000 places I'd rather be than stuck in D.C....PR
Pat, going shooting with Killie might be better then Whittingham!!! We will miss you there bud. Enjoy.
The closest public indoor range that I know about is at Bull Run Shooting Center in Virginia. You can google it. It's quite a drive out Rt 66. If you are downtown, it's about an hour.
There are a couple of parks in Maryland that have archery ranges, but they are both outdoors. The closest is Lake Needwood in Montgomery County. It's still a long drive, 45 minutes to an hour.
Both will take much longer to get there if you go during the high traffic hours.
I don't know of anything inside of the District and I've looked.
Maybe one of the Virginia guys can help you on that side of town.
Hope this helps,
Allen
Dixiebowmen is having their annual Trad Rendezvous this weekend. It is located just south of Richmond. A bunch of us Tradgangers will be there all weekend.

Thanks everyone. I shot with Killie on wednesday and had a great time. For this weekend, I actually have to drive back to NJ for a couple of reasons. Since I am going back anyway, I'm gonna definitely be at the Whittingham shoot on saturday, but not sunday. Gonna try to go to a shoot in VA the following weekend that Coyote Creek Archers is putting on. Byron Ferguson is supposed to be there, I think. I'm gonna try to shoot with Killie one evening next week. I'm gonna get in touch with Bull Run shooting center and may try to head down there as well. Thanks for all of the info. And to Killie, thanks for the amazing hospitality.
If you still have extra time while in DC visit the Museum of American Indians, the Natural History Museum, The Portrait Museum and others along the Mall. All are free and very interesting.
Now, I must say that when I told my husband, Mockingbird, that I was gonna meet some sta-ranger from the internet and head into the woods with him, there was an eyebrow raised. Who knows, perhaps he was hopeful.
But checking Pat's posts, he seemed OK, and after all, he's an archer. He was prompt, could shoot well, and we went out for some 3D. The day was pleasant, even the hailstorm. He seemed a nice, though chatty fella, which is good because I (really!!) am a fairly quiet person. But then I got to looking at my bow pics and saw the one picture that I took of Pat. I swear, it is Ted Bundy on a bad hair day!

So,if I disappear...
And somebody crops up with a Centaur JUST like mine that also happens to say (or said...) "Killdeer" on the offside, buy that bow. It's a screamer!
Killdeer :biglaugh:
Ted Bundy on a no-hair day, more like it. I do get a little "chatty" from time to time, LOL. Too bad I didn't have the jacket with me during the hail/rain storm.
Don't worry, you're safe. After all, I'm a lefty. ;)
Yeah, he showed up at my House in his "Compact" car "FULL" of bows, targets and you name it !! GOOD MAN here,, Hey Pat,, Did Ya Buy That TRUCK Yet !!! From another "Lefty" ............
Truck?
Like...a Tundra??? :scared:
Killdeer :help:
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Nope. Still just have my Nissan Altima. It's a little banged up, but it looks better with a deer in the back seat. :bigsmyl:
If you have a deer in the back seat, how are you going to get into the trunk? :p
Killdeer :biglaugh:
The trunk opens from the outside. At least sometimes it does. LOL.
I tried to call that Bull Run shooting range. An old message is on the machine, and no one calls back. I think the archery portion of the range may have closed.
