Title: AD Hammer Heads
Post by: Jerry Jeffer on April 20, 2009, 10:14:00 AM
OK, I did some searching on the site before posting this and I was not able to find the answer. Is there a uni-bushing that fits the Hammer head for the G nock? Does any one recommend using that or is the regular AD nock sufficient?  The trouble I have had with all carbons is the nock. If I don't glue them in, they fly out on a hard hit and I loose it. Or, if I glue it in, it breaks off leaving the skinny part in the arrow. I have been experimenting with all kinds of carbons and I think the Hammer head will be my last experiment and probably my final choice from what I have been reading here. One other question. i am shooting 55#@28" how much has any one cut them down and corrected spine with more weight in front? I really don't want to shoot an arrow longer than 30". Thanks for any help.

If they are the same as AD Trads and Trad Lite's which I believe they are,I use an ACC 3-28 bushing and then use G-nocks.But I have also used their nocks adapters and cut them off at the first groove closet to the shaft and make them uni-bushings,and the G-nocks fit right in.With carbons I don't worry about the length because they don't come in as many different spines.I trim and shoot and add front end weight until I achieve the correct dynamic spine for my bow.

JR is right on.  Also you will find on most carbons the nock will fly off on a hard hit.  I tried out the adapters and they also flew off, they were epoxyed in.  But, they are easier to get than the AD nocks.  You can get the 3-28 bushings and G-nocks from just about any bow shop.

I have never had a nock fly off one of my Beman MFX Classics, never.  I'm launching them out of a 64 lb rocket launcher.  Arrows are coming in at 650 gr. also.

I have had plenty of stock nocks fly out or break but I have never had the Unibushing/Gnock combo do either, ever. Its the best Nock combo for AD's hands down....well unless you like glue on nocks with the adaptor...those work well also.

Most of the flex is in the taper...so cutting off from the front end doesn't really effect spine...less you cut off a bunch.

I use a glue in aluminum nock adapter and 'Z' nocks.  I never liked the little G nocks and I just can't feel them enough...expecially if I have to reverse cant.
