Pull off all the feathers ( long ones black & white ) make a pile of feather from each wing. This will give you feathers for fletching left & right wing. De-bone them and boil the bones to make turkey wing bone calls. The little feathers can be used to make wind detectors, accents for bow handles or anything else.
Send them to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goldtooth:
Thanks Sal...That was different...Somebody will probably get them. I dont want to mess them up. Whats the easy way to pull the quils? I've never done it before. I ended up using a utility knife and splitting the skin to the bottom each and more or less pulling the skin off the quils to get them out. I didnt realize how big they were. The big ones are bigger than my little finger...It was a nice one...24#'s...10.5" beard and 1.5" spurs...
Go to Custom feathers site and click on the how to section. Full details on how to deal with the primaries used for fletching.
Easy as pie.

Congrats on the wings! I too would suggest on going to the sponsor who deals with these. He has a nice website with a super easy to understand youtube video on how to deal with these. Take a look and let us know how you come out with the wings.
I logged on just now to post almost the exact same question. I'm driving home lastnight and see this ball of feathers laying on the yellow line. Picked up a nice hen and cut the wings off so I can make me some turkey fletching. Thanks for saving me the time. Skippy
Thanks for the link..I wish I would have saw that first. I cut each quil out, 1 by 1... :knothead: ..
is there any where i can send them to be done i don't have the time to do it myself
My impression of the sponsor and what he does is that you treat the wings as a whole as he shows and then just send them off to him. I am hoping to get some wings and plan on sending them to him.
I use a set of side cutters and clip them off at the wing. Also the secondaries will make good fletchings.
