After doing a LOT of reading, i have decided to get some limbs made at 45 at my draw length. I'm wanting to stay between 10-11gpp range for my bow, but load up the front pretty good.
I thought about using the new gold tips but can't find a dealer. does anyone know who sells these or would I be better with another arrow? I do require the wood grain look.
oh yeah i have been drawing about 27"...I say have been because my form is getting more consistent. it use to be more but i think im settling at this length.
I don't beleive the 15/35's are out yet. I could be wrong. But any how, if your are going to load up the front. The 35/55's would be a better choice.
if i go with 35/55 then i would have a 550g arrow i believe. I think if i cut the 15/35 at 27.75 250 up front i should have a 470g arrow with 25.8% foc
I would think that this would be a great hunting arrow and easiy to build 100g brass and 150 g point
They are available now. I believe Big Jim, the guy that bought Sipsey River has them.
It's the shaft spine that you need to take a look at. The 15/35 has a .600 deflection. Shooting them out of a 45lb bow with 250 grains up front may make them shoot weak.
even with cutting the at 27.5?
yup. and they might be weak enough to blow up on ya with that point wgt. I'm not sayin they would,,,but I wouldnt test it ;)
so is it going to be impossible to get a carbon loaded up frontover 22% at 10.5 gpp? for a 45# bow
The 1535`s work great for me out of my 44# recurve. I draw 28", cut them to 29" , added a 100 grain brass insert and a 125 grain point and they fly perfect.
i'm going to have to disagree with trapper dave and badger on this one.... ive been shooting .600 spine easton epics with 175 up front 29" long out of my 45# longbow cut to center with excellent results for the past 2 years... personally i think 35/55s are way too stiff for any mid 40 bows (unless cut past center) or left full length and loaded to the max. .... i think granny has it nailed down on this one...when you start cutting these carbons down...say to 28-29" ..they stiffen big time...
just for you info, i can shoot a 35/55 with 300gr up at 30 1/4" out of my 54# recurve with a 28" draw. just thought i'd say that.
so im either right on or way off haha thanks guys
Well the great bowyer building my limbs said he would bareshaft for me at my draw length before he sends my limbs to me so i have a better idea what arrows to get. I'll report back to let everyone know... i know people are always searching for this info
heck, I'm shooting full length 400s (55-75) out of my low forties bows. The lightest ones (ultra lite 400s) are topped out at 490 grains (11gperLB) and the heaviest are kinetic IIs at 650 (15gperLB). I can't get these any lighter without going below 19% FOC. I find the longer arrows parallax better and are more accurate than 35-55s cut down. I have bare shafted some of my setups at 65 yards outdoors with near perfect flight.
I just don't worry about having arrow hanging off the riser and I'm finding that there might be another favorable paralax factor in the position on the arrow, that the riser is supporting the arrow at release. I'm see that the longer arrows hanging off the riser gets out cleaner with all other factors being equal.
I'm shooting my 35/55s out of my 35 LB long bow now and that works pretty well. I have some 600s and the ladies shoot them out of the 35lb pronghorn and they fly real well for them. These arrows are around 19% FOC.
I've been looking around, and can't find anyone selling the 15/30 arrows. Does anyone know where they can be found?
I just saw on Kustom King's site that they sell the new 1535's by the half dozen.
Bill
LAS shows them in the traditional shafts. They also have the Entrada lite at $49.99 a doz. in 600 spine.
Steve
big jim/sipsey river has them
Give me a call. I can help you with the 15/35's. No problem.
BigJim
I have a few 1535's in stock.
Just got mine in a few days ago.
I got mine from Big Jim, cut to 28.5" with 100 grain brass adapters and 125 grain heads. Drawn 27.5" out of a 47# Quinn Stallion Classic they shoot great. I had to build up my side plate with a toothpick but after that I couldn't be happier.
I shoot a 45# bow with the new Carbon Express Predator II .600 spine. Their full length 30" with 125 gr. tip. and fly great.
The grain weight is 7.7 grains per inch for the shaft.
Harrelson Archery $54.99 doz.

whats the most poundage u guys are sooting with these shafts? i thought about getting some for my 54# predator and my 52# canebreak. i figured with lighter point weight you can stiffen them up to shoot good
fountain..... I think you'd run into the problem of too light of an arrow.... you'd be around 400 grains with 125 grains up front...
im shooting them 28.5 " w/225 up front out of 44# longbow cut to center...i'm just under 500 grains.
im at 415-ish now with a full length 35/55 with a 125 gr point. i would like a touch more weight, but they are flying like darts out of my longbow and the flew good in the predator. i have more fine tuning to do on it, but if they fly good--then that will be what i go with. i really dont think i will have any problems with a light shaft.
is the ultralight entrada 600 basically the same thing as the 15/35?
Yes, except that the 15/35 is heavier and wood grain of course.
BigJim
fountain...you'd definitely want to go with the 1535..the ultralight is very light... i think under 6 grains per inch.....another very good arrow at a great price is the ce predator 20/40s from braveheart...they are .600 spine and priced around 50.00 per dozen..probably a better selection if your not worried about using the brass heavy inserts... the predators are slightly smaller in diameter than the goldtips.
The 1535s are about 260 gr with insert and nock (no feathers or point).
Completed arrow with 125 gr point is about 400 gr.
I have shot them out of bows from 40-47 lb and they shoot very well. Point weight must vary depending on bow, riser cut etc.
These are a shaft we have needed for a long time.
John...you are not kidding! I'm so happy , im about ready to buy all the rest up before they stop making them.... great hunting arrow for mid 40 bows !! and the fact that they will take the standard brass inserts a big plus!
foutain, You will be under spined shooting the 15/35 from a 52# and 54# bow.
the reason i ask about the entrad is that my wife shoots them in her compound. i could steal a few from her to bare shaft to see what i get. i will probably get a dozen from big jim shortly to try in my bows--if they are under spine, i can shorten them and play with point weight. i am now wanting to try a shorter arrow to try and get the point out of my sight when i shoot.
