Title: Help me find this
Post by: on April 12, 2009, 05:09:00 PM
I bought a bunch of these years ago and have now run out. They fit just perfectly on small longbow risers. I can't remember who makes them and can't find them anywhere I've looked. Anybody got a suggestion?

Nobody wants the new ones, the old ones have the mojo! Well, most of the old ones, anyway.

I held onto mine all these years, but demand went steadily down. I put them in a safe place. I hate when I do that.

That guy over yonder, he had some way back when. But, he traded them for a set of the others, to the lady up that away.

She in turn, sold them to a kid down yonder ways.

That kid growed out of 'em and handed 'em off to a brand new "gang" member.

Since that ganger ain't so new no more, she sent them back to that feller over yonder; and he forgot where he put 'em...I think..?..?

They broke it within minutes. I didnt bother to replace it.

I had some that I wasn't using, but my bride found them, hidden in my junk room.  Now she's using them for 3 Day Events.  Says they hold up well, except when the horse falls at the Water Complex.  Said when they got soaked, they shrunk.  So I've got a couple that are two sizes too small, that she's willing to part with.  Asking 3 x's origional price, cause they have experience, now!

Folks have been rummaging through their treasure caves all night, and if that ain't hunting, I dunno what is. As for the hundreds of man hours this has incurred, one staggers to realize what that would cost a patient on the couch. My traditional Easter dinner of hassenpfeffer got burnt as I battled the dust bunnies for hidden items of questionable identity. Thank goodness for burritos, the dinner you can scarf with one hand while you plow through boxes with the other!

I have to turn on the afterburners now, and jet on off to work, but I will be right back at it when I get home. I hope I don't make too many mistakes, misdelivering Ed McMahon's missives is entirely too easy when one has not slept.

I saw one on Antiques Roadshow, I think.  It was either that or one of those other things.  Finest example the expert had ever seen.  If he had it in his shop it would bring lots of money, but for insurance purposes, it's probably worth more.  You just never know in today's market.

Post by: on April 13, 2009, 09:29:00 AM
This is pretty funny--I went to download a photo of the item and it didn't work. I'll try to describe. It is a black plastic arrow holder, sticks to the outside of the bow w/ self-stick tape, the part that sticks is about 2 inches long, 1/2" wide and has holes in it. A very thin plastic cord has a gripper for the arrow on the end. When you pull the arrow back, it lets go. I think I saw Denny Sturgis using one on some video tape. Does this help?

I use the Kwik-lok on my longbows with no problem. They are the best I have found. The Kanati would definitely qualify as a small riser. My son also used one on his Martin ML10. If you find a smaller riser than that I'd be surprised.

Unless of course it was that other thing you were looking for all along. In that case I gave mine to my daughter, but by grandson flushed it down the toilet, sorry.
