Snake skin is such a nice natural camo. I just think it looks great on bows.
Check out my recent 'snakeskins' post. Rattlers make great looking bow backing.
Here's mine, the pic isn't the greatest!! parrie rattler on bow and diamond back on the quiver!! I like both equally so that is why i didn't do the quiver to match the bow!!

All very nice to look at. A well done skin-backed bow is just a work of art...nature's and bowyer's...to my eye.
Hey Osagetree...I caught your location in the South Point area. We are neighbors...I live north of you in southern Jackson county.

When you put the skins on a longbow, do you remove the leather grip or just glue it on up to it? I'm gettin ready to do my longbow, but the leather is well worn in, and I really don't want to take it off if I don't need to, but I want to do it right when I put the skin on.
Awesome pics, I really love the look of the skins. I'm doin mine with Prairie Rattler.
That is my selfbow indian style I made for my nepew some years ago.

The best bows for snake skins are those with 'snakey' grain, IMO.

Morrison Cheyenne Canebrake Skins

LOTS of nice bows here!!! I may have to think hard about putting some skins' on a bow.

You could do it if you were careful without removing the handle wrap. Cut the skin just long enough to go over your handle wrap say 1/8 of an inch and then glue and tuck under the leather on the handle, glue it all down good. But for best results remove handle wrap and butt the two skins together underneath then replance handle wrap.
My only bow, First Attempt...

Seems to be holding up well. I like it better than Camo!
Here is my Morrison with skins and a Centaur with fake copperhead skins hopefully soon to have real skins. I have another set of Morrison Cheyenne 54" carbon/foam core limbs with eastern diamond skins on order can't wait to get those.
