Title: Don't know how some do it!
Post by: Oliverstacy on April 08, 2009, 01:29:00 PM
I'm at a point in my life that I realize if I want something bad enough I sometimes have to part with something to get it.  If I don't I will never have money going forward.

How do some of you guy and gals sleep at night the way bows trade hands?  :knothead:

I love what I'm getting and will have it next week but what I sold is eating me!  :banghead:

I'm with you!  I sold a BUNCH of reloading equipment to buy some power tools for my new bow building addiction....  I sold one of my favorite bows to pay for a new rest on my wheel bow...  I also sold my snowmobile to buy another 4 wheeler....

On and on it goes (till I run out of stuff to sell!!).

The bows I've sold have all been ones that I didn't shoot that well or just plain didn't like.  No sellers remorse associated with those.

Up til the end of last year I was buying bows like crazy, selling a lot along the way as well.   Now, I have found my one LB and one recurve that I shoot well, I don't see the need to look any further.

There are still a few I would still like to buy, more for the sake of having "x" bow or "y" bowyers bow more then anything else.

The bug may bite me again in the future but for now I'm happy.

It is called being " workin class" we will almost always have what we NEED but we will never have all we want its where "THEY" got us so "THEY" can have what "THEY WANT" see its easy.

I always though it was attachments, like sights, bow quivers, stabilizers, and other such impedimentia that leads to the Dark Side.

Ihave traded a lot over the last 3 years, but have settled down to about 10 bows, All set up real close together, I can interchange them and go hunting, frequently do. I might buy a high end bow in the future, Morrison or ACS, but I dont see me shooting them any better than what I have. I have really gotten into the groove, shooting better than I have in my life with what I have. No regrets for the ones i let go of getting here. Any time I want to buy somehting new, bow, gun, etc., My gunsmithing, machining, metalsmithing, or knife making that I do on the side has to pay for it. I am blessed in that God has seen fit to give me a number of talents, and use them not only for my benefit, but to help others as I can.

Yes, I too wish I still had my first Black Widow. Even though it was only a MAB (black model). But, I do like my Predator very much. So, I don't think too much about my BW I had. My next big thing to do now is to make my osage selfbow lower in draw weight so I can shoot it. I guess if I could have any bow out there, and cost were not an issue, it would be a late model Shrew at around 55#. Now, there's a bow I would keep forever if I possibly could.

TradGang.com, and the great people here, have made it possible to have just about everything we need as far as archery stuff is concerned, through gifts and the trading I have done to get what things we need to satisfy our trad cravings. Don't know what I would've done without you.

I've only been over Dave's place a few times. He rotates bows like a revolver.I don't know how you do it bro.I'd get too attached to a certain Morrison...  :D  I notice those swans don't go far from ya...  ;)

There's going to come a point where I'll HAVE to give up one to get another...and I dread the day(Most of my bows I love...there's probably 2 right now I'll part with...my montana(WORST grip ever, and the workmanship is sub par,but it shoots) or my PSE impala(Just a cheap bow but a decent shooter).
