Title: EFOC and Wind question
Post by: lt-m-grow on April 07, 2009, 05:52:00 PM
Got a question for folks using EFOC arrows and how they react in a good cross wind.

I recently increased the front of my carbon arrows to about 300 grains. Generally I like them but I notice something since the change when I shoot through a high cross wind (about 15-20mph) that I haven't noticed others mention.   It appears the tail-end of my arrow (only the tail) cork screws.  I don't notice it during other conditions.

Historically, before the change, all I would see is my arrow drifting some with the wind.

Anyway, didn't know if others are seeing this.   When I think about it, it makes sense as the rear is relatively light and has more wind resistance from the feathers.  The front has a less tendancy to move and therefore I could be seeing the rear continue to correct itself and follow the nose.

So what you think is this something others are seeing?

EFOC arrows will drift less then the same weight "normal" FOC arrows will. "Seeing" them has more to do with fletching color and them doing what that are supposed to do, correcting quickly instead of drifting sideways.....O.L.

I don't have EFOC,I fly 225 out front.  I did happen to notice today (15-20 winds) that they were flying a little ugly, still hitting the spot though.  Joe

Didn't see the previous post and I usually do a search first.

Anyway, thanks for the advice and Dave I am gonna try a couple different things too.

Yet on moving to a less windy place, I'll have to chat witht the wife some on that.  Made me laugh.

Thanks.
