one of my favorite bows, in fact my primary bow is a Dale Dye Trails end, I have two take-downs and a one piece. I also have one on order and my question is for Dye owners which riser do you prefer, large or small. The standard is the large but the small riser can be had on the 58 and 60 inch bow. My order is for a 60 inch with the small riser but I have become real fond of my 60 inch with the standard 20 inch riser. anybody have any thoughts ?
pictures would be good too, as we all like to look at good pictures.
Thanks !
Hey bud,
I'd opt for the longer riser and shorter limbs. I like the longer sight window, I think the shorter limbs recover faster=less shock, and the additional weight at the center of gravity adds to the stability. Of course you are likely to hear the opposite from some. I faced this decision as well when I was buying a new bow and the bowyer said to stick with the longer riser that I had; that mostly he came out with a shorter riser: "to follow a trend-(he) was after all, a businessman!" :bigsmyl:
Id probably go with the longer riser, unless ur limited like in blind or in stand....Either way , ive been fan of the Dale dye's bows...Id love to find me lefty one day. good luck..mark
yea Steve , that;s what I am kind of thinking, I had a 58 inch and I really liked it but I seem to shoot much better with the large riser. I prefer small bows and small riser bows but I shoot a recurve with a large riser better, especially while hunting when conditions are not perfect. I need all the help I can get ! The bow I was shooting on our hog hunt was my 60 inch Dye.
and a purdy one it is too Thomas! What's prompting you to get another? Send pics of course when you get it!
I'm a fan of the short riser. The bow on the left is a 58"er the right a long riser 60"er. I shot more robbin hoods with the bow on the left than with all my other bows combined. I'd love to shoot the 60" with the short riser as my draw was a tad long for the 58" bow. Last pic too wide had to link it. (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e193/Crarysp/dyeandtips008.jpg)

As a owner of 3 with the 4th on it's way this June. I like the longer riser it just seems easier to shoot. Like mention above the larger sight window seems to help. Oh I sent my deposit today for # 5.
Chechen/cocobolo 58", Hickory 60"
Great looking!
Thomas, tell Joey to put order in for you and I for Swamprooter!!!!!!!!make mine Lefty....I bet he is chasing turkey with my call. :) :wavey: :goldtooth:
The bow I made for myself has Swamprooter limbs on it, Joey was nice enough to let me use his form, good shooting bows no doubt. I talked to him today and he was making some calls, I tried to get him to go hog hunting.

Hey Thomas! Dales bows are so pretty I would not care what kind of riser he gave me! Seriously, though I've always liked bigger risers better. I shoot them better for sure. The two bows are normally shoot, are a Habu and a Dakota by Rick Welch. I don't have the Dakota anymore, because I auctioned it for a P.B.S. member in need, but I'll be getting another one. I'm on the list for a new Habu too, and the risers are smaller on the new ones, although they are still pretty big. My riser on my current Habu is huge and it is made out of Ebony so it's really heavy. Alot of guys would not wanna drag one up and down mountains, but I spend most of time in a treestand and the heavy weight helps me shoot better.
Order one of each :goldtooth:
This is the new one, Bocote with Bloodwood.

yea John I like heavier woods too, my new Dye is going to be ebony. I hope I get to shoot your Habu some day !
Beautiful bow Stykshooter

Hello Hogdancer, Dale is now making 62" limbs for the short riser. My favorite bow is a short riser 62". I also have a long riser 64" that I like alot.
my new Dye made it here today, could not be happier, 60 inches and 54@28 also included a picture of her with her sisters. Headed to Colorado on Sunday maybe the new bow will spill a little blood !

Thomas,
Very nice indeed! Good luck on your trip, I wish you success my friend :)
Kevin in Michigan
I have owned and shot both the long and short riser. Liked both, but I just got a 62" onepiece and it is by far the best shooting of the Dyes I have owned, this one is a keeper for sure.
Danny
the onepice is a great bow, I have one that is snakewood with medicine points, the only one made, and it is a sweet shooting bow, I just seem to travel so much that it does'nt get used as much.
Thanks Kevin, I am sure it will be a successful trip.
Beautiful. Are your bows, the medium grip? I am sending in an order this week. I cant wait. His bows are so great.
yes medium grip, I had one low grip once and did'nt care for it.
Beautiful Bows guys. I have been looking at the Medicine Points and I am ordering one now. I did just pick up my first Dale Dye at the Nebraksa State Traditional shoot in Freemont NE last week end. It is a gorgous Trails End that Dale made for Tony Huckaby in 1998. I am really enjoying it and cant wait for my new Medicine Point.
Thomas, I get a short riser with medicine points, but not shoot yet,I get too many bows;but I think a short riser with a heavy mass exotic wood is as stable as any longer twinn.I really like your last born more than the others,Felix
One of my biggest archery mistakes was selling my LH Dale Dye. Of course the guy I sold it to loves it so I will never get it back. I guess I will have to order another before Dale calls it quits.
Dave
Those are some pretty bows and that is an understatement!!
Frank --- retired ?? Hell to get old, eh? Grin.
Good looking bow Thomas. Best of luck in Colorado. Grant
Thanks Grant, have a good season and I will see you in the spring !
Hogdancer, Any chance you would post a pic of that one piece? I'd love to see it. Thanks Greg
this is the only pic I can find right now, I know I have some better ones somewhere

That riser on the left looks mighty familiar!
yep, but through "providence" the limbs have come back to me !
Even though she sport's new 62" limbs, I still call her "Providence". I hope the limbs worked out for you Hogdancer.
