I was in the trift store yesterday, looking for camo, and I saw the box full of old skis that every thrift store seem to have. My question is, has anyone ever bought a pair, and cut them down to make limbs with? Would it even be possible?
There were a few pics around here last year (year before?) of some old ski limbs on a T/D. The guy had been shooting the bow for years, so yup, it's possible.
That is so funny. Just the other day I was talking to a buddy of mine about taking an old ski and cutting a longbow out of it. I would love to see if it worked but no reason it shouldn't. They are just "glass" and wood.
Phoenix 57 had a bow posted he made out of skis...I think it was in the Bowyers Bench.
Sounds like a great project to me.

I had forgotten about that thread :)
I was thinking about the foam skis, i have heard they use the same foam as the bow limbs.
thank i will got the SA and look for some, maybe grind a few lamb. and glue up a bow or two,
What you think Jamie will it work?? Harold
Man, that is one ugly bow. Looks like it'll get it done though if you can pull 95 lbs.
I dont see why it wouldn't Harold. You know way more than me about bow making... :D
After reading this I just went looking for my brother's old K2 skis....he must have taken em to Florida. Lucky for him...I have an old wooden compound that is begging for some trad limbs. :goldtooth:
ok, somebody take some ski and lag bolt 'em to a two by four and lets see some bows. I know I have some up in the attic. They might even have pink on 'em to really spice it up.
there goes my day.
