Just glad you're OK.
Not good!! Like GMMAT said, glad you're ok. It could have been a lot worse. Big bummer that oldie has to be retired now.
Ouch! Glad you came out on top.
That looks like it had long life...get ya new one.!
have had that happen to me before, it sucks. glad your not hurt
Man... that just bites ! Any cracks down the limb? If not... I wonder if anyone's ever tried reshaping the tips and remake a new tip. Probably end up with a little lighter pull. Just seems a shame to have to retire an old friend.
I had that happen once and received a face full of fiberglass and a cut on my arm from the bowstring. I'm glad you are okay. You definitely need a new bow!
Allan
Was that your only traditional bow?
Looks to me like the string groove was filed in way deeper then it needed to be, weakening the bow in that area. I also realize it was a vintage bow as well. Glad your okay. Chad
Bummer about your bow, glad your OK!
do you have another, or the means to get one?
Glad all is well with your face!
Glad you are ok
Better the bow than you. Hang her up as a collector item. This your only bow?
What a bummer! I had a longbow delaminate on me just as I released. The bow jumped out of my hand and hit the ground. It was kind of scary. Then the realization that my baby was dead set in and I was really distraught.

I feel your pain.I had my father's 45# Bear grizzly seperate on me (All I heard was a pop while drawing),luckly I caught it before it came apart.Wall hanger now..
Glad you're ok.
Thank God that you were not hurt. I have had several blow up on me. One delaminated on the top limb and three others broke right at the handle. Last on got me nine stitches on the forehead.
i have another bow but it doesnt fit me so well its a 52" browing nomad stalker #45@28 im a fairly big guy and its just a little short
anybody wanna trade its in great shape
:bigsmyl:
That bow is a Tri-State Jaguar, and that particular one was sold by Sherwood Archery..not made by them. Tri-State was a division of United States Archery and was located in Danbury, CT. Were you using a dacron string? Tri-State used a lot of woven glass (Pantherglas)...very tough stuff, but there may have been a crack in the tip. I've had several of these bows and they are great shooters.
I would consider having someone like Mike McCreedy cut down the other tip and remake string nocks. It will add about five pounds to the bow but will still shoot fine. If you are decent with a rasp and file you can do it yourself. Throw it my way if you are going to throw it away 8^).
Call Mike McCreedy at Mad Dog archery? He is in the sponsor section. Lt him know what happened and maybe he can fix it for you.
Glad your O.K well off to the classifides
Yep, have someone narrow the tips and cut new string grooves with new overlays and you'll have a new bow, with a familiar feel.
I concur with reworking it. The weight will increase, but it will still be a good bow with a familiar feel. It won't cost much, either.
alright im fairly good at wood working if cut the tips off and put on new ones what would you use smoothon or something easier to find im ready to try this thanks for advice
Any good two-part epoxy will work for the overlays. I've cut off tips like that and reworked string nocks. The hardest part will be the overlays, but I have three hands 8^).
I feel ur pain man! i broke a Robertson recurve at the same spot.. you have to be carefully with those stringers they can stress the tips
Mike at Maddog did an awesome job repairing one of my bows. Great fast service at a very good price!
