just recieved a very nice looking string from oliverstacy (josh) i went to put it on my bow twisted down to 56" inches the lenght of my old string strung it on my recurve measured the brace hieght and it was a full 2 inches shorter than with my old string so i added some more twist string lenghth down to 55" brace hieght still short 3/4" how much can I twist the string to ge tmy brace hieght back to wher eit was without damagen the string or bow? Am i right to assume that putting on a shorter string will change the poundage and draw of bow? thanx for the advice
jesse
im confused why i would have different brace hieghts when the strings are the same lenght. any ideas?
They obviously are NOT the same length. :) ....O.L.
one is a flemish string the other isnt I twisted teh flemish and pulled both strings tight side by side loops touching same length different measurments when the flemish string was not twisted it was 58" maaybe im doing somehting wrong
If you needed a 56" string the new one should be 56" with a few twists in it, maybe 56 1/2" without any. From there it would settle and need a quiet a few more twists over time. You might be able to twist it up enough, it takes a lot to hurt the string....O.L.
yeah the string was 58" with just a few twist had alot of twist to get to 56" figure i have to get it to 54 to get teh righ brace hieght thought this would put alot of preasure on the bow maybe it just wont work with my bow and ill pass it on to another member if i cant make it work
