Ok, it's time to add another longbow to the stable. Over the winter I've been enjoying my longer bows, so here's kinda what I am looking for...
1. 64" - 68" long
2. D shaped strung profile, or close to it
3. a bowyer who doesn't mind black glass
4. NO pistol grips. I would prefer either a riser with enough meat that I can do some reshaping or a bowyer willign to do a dished grip for me.
I said "another" longbow instead of a "new" longbow because I've got nothing against buying used.
Anyone want to recommend a bow or bowyer?
Mohawk, Fox
Got a nice Martin Savannah 62" 55lb at 28". Nice zebra wood limbs. Good shooter.
I suggest Dwyer Original Longbows...awesome classic lines, great dished grip, affordable, sweet shooters...available from 64-68"

Before you buy, look at stjoeriverbows.com. I believe he has a test shoot program.

Pronghorn if you dont already have one sounds like it will fit you needs .
MOAB
Howard Hill. If I had seen the description in a for sale ad, that's the first bow that comes to mind.
Marriah or Robertson
If you don't mind a 62"er I can tiller out a blank for you. You do the handle and finish. I've seen your work at MOJAM years ago and know your capable of good finish work. Chad
john holzrickter of wichita ks makes the tuffest bow around and smooth shootin as well he would have what you want
Jeff, Check out Yellowstone longbows. Very good bows, Good price.
Scared me with this post. I know you were trying out some skinny strings. As far as your question, I'm not as familiar as some out there for the d-shaped bows. I will say the few mohawk bows that I've seen have been very nice bows and would probaly fill your needs very well.
Staying within what you described as the bow your looking for I would go with a Northern Mist. Steve's bows are fantastic and you wont find a nicer guy to deal with.

Jim Godden at Mississippi Lake Longbow
Howard Hill fits your description. Frank
you should give northertmist a call steve turay has made all my longbows he is a good guy an dose outstanding work. his prices are fair as well ED LONG
Take a look at the Border GL. Unless you are wedded to black glass. This one is glassless but has carbon. Much lighter but more "torsionally stiff." borderbows.com
Another vote for Steve-Northern Mist are some fine shooting longbows!
Have a Mahaska that I really like, just traded for a Northern Mist Superior, both of these bows would most likely do the trick for you. Both bows have good prices new.
I think you described a sweet new Howard Hill.
Sweetgrass :)
Another recommedation for a Mohawk. The day I received mine, I got a phone call. I was the owner/bowyer Vince asking if everything was good and if I had any questions.
Service like that is hard to find, harder to beat.
Forgot to add, the bow is beautiful and a shooter!
MOHAWK
Howard Hill, definitely--you'll get it quicker than from anybody else and it will be one sweet stick. I got both of mine in about 3 weeks from date of my order........Dave
