I've tried both over the past 30 years and always come back to the tab.  I was a long time user of the Alaskan Cordovan tab and recently tried the Bateman Cordovan from Three Rivers.  I like it much better.  If you get a tab make sure it is well short of your fingertips when your hand is extended.  Maybe between the first joint and the tip of the finger.  That way when you wrap around the string there won't be any sticking out to throw your shots off.  You can trim most tabs with a pair of scissors.  I never have found a glove that is as smooth as the cordovan tab or that gives as good a feel.  There may be some out there though.

Tab.  I don't like loosing that much dexterity, especially when trying to work a slate during the spring.  I like using thin leather to "feel" the string which is one reason I make my own.  Bottom line though, I think I get a smoother release with a tab.

I had the same question with a buddy of mine! To me as a new guy the tab seems like your release would be more consistant. I would like some more opinions on both too please.

Tab. Better releases and easier to flip it and use your hand with dexterity.

Black Widow tab for me. Have used both, glove and tab. I've had the same tab for many, many years.

Calf hair tab. Smoother and cleaner release.

I really like the Black Widow cordovan tab which they don't seem to make any more.  Their super leather tab is ok but thinner than the cordovan.

Tried both over the years and never got what I felt was a good release with a glove.  Went to a tab and it made a world of difference.  Wore out a calf hair tab and I'm now using a Black Widow. After a few hundred shots I think I like it a bit better.

Dura-Glove from 3R but when it's cold I use a tab that I made modeled after the Dura-Glove with the use of nylon for a slicker release.  I also have a tendency to shoot a couple of inches high with the tab.
