Just wondering who shoots carbon arrows on here and which ones you shoot? I am leaning toward the Beman MFX Classics. What do you guys think about them?
Carbons are all I shoot.I use Carbon Express Heritage 150's.
Absolutely love them...Beman/Easton Axis fly great and are tough, paver brick tough! :banghead: Darn occasional target panic!
Do some searching on the topic...you'll find a bunch.
For the record the camo Axis is almost the same...weighs a touch less but fly the same and are cheaper if you look around. **** has some good deals running if you look. I just ordered a dozen for $65 delivered...Easton Axis 400 in AP camo. The Beman Classics are going to be around $85 or more delivered...depending on where you get them. I think the reason the Camo Axis are so cheap is they are 2007 stock since they went to the Nano shafts in 2008 they're basically the same thing but tougher yet.
Easton from what I've been told and read make the Beman shafts. I've also shot Beman Black Max shafts that use the HIT inserts and the Easton Axis black shafts, all fly well and are interchangeable IMHO.

Just started using CX 150 and GT 35/55.
I shoot the MFX and the Carbon Express 150's I like the smaller dia. MFX with a 100 grain insert gets more penetration .
Yes I do.. Beman MFX 500's, CE Heritage 90's & 150's, Gold Tip 3555's, and Vapor 2000's.
MFXs for me,love them ..blow through every thing i shoot
Slim is in, go for AXIS or MFX or FMJs they kick. Far and away the best punch.
Beman TRT MFX's, CX Rebel Hunters, GT Expd Hunters, Easton FMJ's, Blackhawk Vapors, etc....
I have too many carbons.
CE Heritage 250 for me
yip I shoot both Beman MFX (great arrows) and CX heritage (very tuff)
I have some heritage 250's, they fly really well but I'd rather shoot my footed hexshafts. I probably won't fletch up anymore carbons, nothing wrong with them, I just have to work too hard to like them.
I prefer the regular ICS bemans or the plane black axis myself.Don't care for the rougher finish on the woodgrain arrows like the heritage if I can get smooth shafts instead.
CX H 150 and Beman MFX 400 work well, but mostly shoot wood.
Eric
cx heritage 150's but im pretty new at all this gettign some great help from this site though just wieghed em today 465 29" 125 grain tips . 50# recurve
Big fan of Gold tips, good prices and darn tough. I have one thats killed 3 deer and numerous varmints and is still in my quiver.
Beman MFX Classic 500's here too!
Gold Tips 35/55's for six years now.
Cool thanks guys.
CE heritage 250s and AD Trad woodgrain all with 100 gr brass inserts and 250 to 300 gr heads.
Danny
One more vote for Gold Tip 35/55's here too.
Black shaft XT and Expedition hunters are tuff as nails and not too bad on the wallet either!
CX Heritage 250's with 100 gr insert and 150 gr heads----tough shafts and worse to loose when you know they have so much life left in them.
Nope.
Axis 500's for me and my 64" widow deer getter.
I've been shooting Beman/Easton ICS shafts since 2001.
Arrow Dynamics Traditionals
AD Hammerheads
I really dislike carbons twice last year while I was pulling arrows out of 3-D targets I've gotten carbon splinters in my hand from them. Some like them, I don't Frank
Grizzly Stiks Sitkas or alaskans
BEman MFX TEam Realtree and Classics. Great shafts!
No, although sometimes I think I am the last traditional bowhunter on the planet who doesn't! Don
I'll sometimes shoot carbons for 3-D where long distance is the norm. Being lighter for a given spine range they are a modern tool that gives a competitive edge for competition (fly faster and flatter) and are accepted at most shoots. That said, I don't consider carbon arrows to be traditional archery gear, don't use them for my traditional archery interests (hunting and simple 'fun' shooting) and don't plan on changing my mind about that. To each his own.
I love making and shooting wood arrows...but you can't argue with how carbons shoot and tune up with weight forward. Love the CE 250 shafts at 11gpi and 225gr tips.
Not any more. I had some CX Heritage 250's and just could not get them to fly right for me. I shoot wood with occassional Easton Alum. arrows.
Do you shoot a LB or a recurve Jcar? What poundage?
Beman Venture 500's
Snag, I shoot a Robertson longbow 58# (at that time) with the CX 250's. That was about a year ago and just gave up on them and made the switch to wood and alum. The alum and wood fly great! Thanks John
I shoot AT carbons.
Sometimes I hit them!
:goldtooth:
I like my Legacy aluminums with average front of center 8^).
Gold Tip... Pro Hunters, Xt Hunters, and Traditional XT. All 55/75.
I spent the better part of the weekend shooting, cutting, and fiddling around with some carbon shafts/arrows. Oh well, I tried some. Gave it a shot. I like my woodies and aluminum better. A LOT better. Anybody want a good deal on some carbon shafts and arrows?
No.
Out of all the carbons I tried so far I've only had problems with one type. BEMAN Classics 500. I WILL NOT shoot them out of my 47# Widow PLV. I had 3 nocks break on the way to the target. The last one scared the crap out of me. Gold Tips are my only choice for now.
Depending on the bow:
Acc's - 328 and 349
Gt - 35/55 and 55/75
Redlines - 460
GT ultra 500 and 600
Steve
No more carbons for me. Shot 1 deer with carbon and though the arrow performed well( with 1 strange quirk ) there was something missing, maybe the romance of the wood, I don't know. Cedar never let me down before and it smells a heck of alot nicer.
