So why do they make broadheads with inserts that weigh a certain weight but you can't match them up with a field point.
Case in point (pardon the pun)....
I bought a test kit of carbons for the shrew (just thought I would try them).
I have them shooting real well - 340 with a 100 grain brass insert and a 165 grain broadhead (magnus with aluminum insert)
I ordered some field tips and becasue of the diameter of the arrow I wanted ones that would be FLUSH.....they only have 145 grain tips.
So they said "The best we can get in the 9/32 is 145gr - these will fit flush with the MFX 340. In the 5/16 I have 145 or 175" will be too big - not real big but they do grab pulling them out of foam targets.

Just chuck the point in a drill and file a taper on the shoulder. It won't take much at all.
Thanks...that's what I was thinking, but why make these arrows that way then..I guess that's what I was asking.
Will do the fix..then I will atleast have the same weights
Jer
i use glue ons with lead melted with alum adapters. can turn a 125 glue on to whatever you want.
May I add a further question relating to this?
Why do 3Rivers and KustomKing carry new weights of glue-on Ace Hex blunts, but not some of the old weights (in particular, the 160 grain version)? These are still available direct from Ace. Are some weights of broadhead getting phased-out?
Cheers,
Ben
Jerry,
The shaft manufactures are actually helping us with that problem. Almost all of the carbons being sold now are 5/16 OD so we can mix and match points and adapters to our hearts content. Sounds like you have some of the other ones.
Have you tried using the same BH adapters and glue on 125 gr points? Basically building the same head you did with the BH.

Mike does exactly what I do. Build the same broadhead combination with an insert and a glue on head. Fairly easy to match practice points and heads that way. dino
