Title: EFOC and spine question
Post by: Travisc406 on March 17, 2009, 02:14:00 AM
My current set up I am messing with is a bow I got tobow fish but love to shoot it cuz it is so nice for low poundage. anyhow I am shooting it 43 pounds at 27 inch draw and use a 28  1/2 inch arrow. anyhow I was thinking of trying to go efoc to pick up some more weight for shooting a deer with it. I was gonna use some 35-55 goldtips with 5 grain inserts and 200 grain broadheads. should  Istep up to 55/75 with that much? thanx for any info travis

I would bet you will have to add more then 300 grains to get the 55/75's to shoot. I shoot a 31.5" 55/75 out of a 62# bow and I have 235 up front to get good tune. I would stick with the 35/75's, but thats me.

Good luck whatever you do,

Todd

i shoot 350gr upfront with 54#@28"draw 31 1/4" arrow 55/75

stick with the 35/55

i would think you could nearly shoot 350gr on them with your bow weight and draw

I plugged your numbers into the dynamic spine calculator. GT3555 28.5in bop, 265 up front, 520 grains total arrow weight, and 24.7% foc. The 5 grain per inch weight tubes would decrease your foc and the arrows are already quite heavy for your draw weight IMO.

I would skip the weight tubes too. I don't like the way the arrow behaves with them inside.

At my 26 1/2" draw and 54# to 59# bows I use 245 to 360 grains up front on GT5575 so I think the GT3555 should work best for you and your 43# bow.

thanx guys I got a good starting point. I think with a grizzly on the front it out to punch a hole in a doe or two.
