Can someone please point me in the direction of a 3 under hair or leather tab?
I know a couple places where I can get one but I don't want to pay twice the amount of the actual product because of shipping.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Leo
Havent used a tab myself...but ive seen this one recommended so bookmarked it.

3 rivers blackwidow tab for 3 under
You can always cut your own from scrap leather. I picked up some from a local leather craft supply for $5.00 and cut a bunch of tabs from it, pretty simple to do! They work perfect for me and last a VERY long time!
Hey Fool, that's what I'm considering to do. I've seen the one at 3R, but if I pay $9 for the tab I know they'll get me for about an extra $6 or so in shiping.
check out black widow's web site they have several styles in various price ranges.
Word. Thanks little man.
Whoops, $7 for shipping on something that weighs next to nothing and is smaller than my hand.
Guess I'll be making one.
I really like Black Widow tabs. For the best shipping, and seeing as you live in the USA, you could just call them, and they are a small-enough operation to care-enough to ship it in an appropriate size.
I make my own from scrap leather. I attach them to a ring I made from some thermoplastic splinting material I use at work. They work great and are customized to my hand.
Black widow cordavan, best I've found for all around shooting and durability.
I love the BW tabs as well. Been using one for years.
For 3 under I make my own. Bought scrap leather cut them out I made 11 from $5 worth of leather scrap...They usually cost me $7-$9
I have the BW 3 under in leather and hair. Both are good. But Ol' Buff makes a far better custom one, in my opinion.

us mail aint 7 bucks,,,
I called Mr. Bateman and ordered mine from him.
The conversation was worth whatever it cost me. I'm gonna call him back, soon and order a few more.
For what it's worth, Rod Jenkins shoots 3 under with a Cavalier split finger tab - he says (on Masters of the Barebow) that he likes the plate 'cause it gives him a consistent approach to the string.
here's a great 3 under cordovan tab for 9.50, scroll down a bit its pretty good.

I shoot a Cordovan 3 under tab from 3-rivers. I have tried most of them and this one is the one. They are $10.45 and well worth it. I shot a BW tab before I got the Cordovan and like it ok.

I know!! That's the problem! They're ripping me off with shipping. I will call them as suggested and throw a fit. Tazmanian devil type stuff.
I have no experience with the three under tab since I shoot split finger, but the Bateman Cordovan tab with finger spacer is outstanding. 3-Rivers sells it under their name, but like you, I will not buy it alone because of the minimum shipping charge. I buy my tabs at 3-D shoots where vendors are present to avoid this excessive charge, or I stack my 3 Rivers order with other traditional shooters and split the freight. Either way, the Bateman cordovan tab is what I would recommend.
Awesome, I just called BW and was able to get one with only $3 for shipping. That's agreeable, so I ordered one. Thanks yall!
Lot of folks recommending the BW 3-under tab. I agree. I've tried others. But none work better for me . . . or feel more natural.

Another for the BW 3 under tabs!!!!!
My BW tabs wouldn't last very long. I used to get the hair tabs and the rubber layer would always rip and the hair wears off fast.
They were usually toast within a month.
imo, the Cavalier tab(split finger design) is the best 3 under tab out there. Your hook up is consistant due to the plastic plate on the tab. Not to mention a very slick(smooth) realese. :archer:
Why not just use a regular tab? That's what I've been doing for a long, long time.
Wow the shipping was super fast. I ordered it on the morning of the 17th, and it's here today by noon. Two days!! And just in time for this weekends shoot.
Next time try your own style as they are very easy to make for almost nothing :) Doc

The Black Widow calf hair tab does lose the calf hair too soon. However, I've been shooting the same cordovan one for over two years, and it is well-worn-in, and still going strong. I replace the velcro with elastic.
Make my own from cordovan leather, slick and wears for "almost" forever. It's a "two holer" at the first and middle finger with the part that contacts the string 3 fingers wide!
Maybe I'm just not used to shooting a tab. I've always used a glove. I shot about 20-25 arrows and my fingers were sore.
Get to practicing ....dont quit...mark
That Tippit is pretty handy for a vet. Makes knives, hunts whatever moves, and still finds time to make tabs. Got to love a guy like that.
Go Doc. :notworthy:
Leo if you're up in the Kenner area anytime soon stop by Tandy Leather on Airline Hwy. You can dig through thier scrap leather bin and pick up enough to make several tabs for minimal expense.
Another vote for the Cavalier Elite cordovan. Works for Rod Jenkins, and works for me too!
Thanks guys. I had no idea this thread would actually turn into a tab learning experience.
Here's the thing, I like the tab, but I think I need to find a good anchor with it. My groups are tighter than they've been, but not on target. I have them hitting high and left. I brought it to the LTB shoot this past weekend and shot it on the practice range. I had to switch to the glove for the course.
I don't mean to hijack this thread. But it recently switched to 3 under. I always made my own tabs when I shot split finger. I made two tabs for three under and now my fingers get really sore. I shot a weekend tournament and I actually got a blister on my middle finger.
Any suggestions?
My tabs are cordvan leather with soft thin leather on the back from an old wallet.
Try the Saunders PAK tab. It is tough but very slick plastic. Great finger protection and a very fast slick release. I've used them for nearly twenty years.
Another vote for the Cavalier Elite tab..I like the Ultra light though. These things will last a loooong time.
the bateman 3 under cordovan tab is the best i have found. (3 rivers carries them)
