Title: Getting started
Post by: wyrnutz on March 15, 2009, 12:42:00 PM
Looking to get started (entry level) in traditional archery. I would be crossing over from the other side. I have a 28 " 50# recurve that has the word Pinto on it. Any ideas ? It needs a new string and I am concerned about shooting it. Any help or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Brian

as far as a new string goes any archery shop can make you one, just tell them how long your recurve is.

Is this a Ben Pearson bow? There should be an AMO length on the side of the riser, along with the weight and serial number. From that AMO length, any stringmaker would be able to make you a proper Flemish string. Make sure that it is made from B-50, and not the newer fast-flight materials.

Ask all the questions you can think of, and post pics so we can admire your new bow!

sounds like a Pearson

probably a 66" bow, get a 62or63" string actual length or 66"AMO length string.

I'd like to see some pics too  ;)

I'm new as well. Ask lots of questions! They'll get answered!

Don't string that bow without a bowstringer.........right?

Welcome!   :archer:
