What is your ONE bow you won't consider trading or getting rid of??
I won't say here, otherwise I might get some stupidly ridiculous offer that makes me change my mind. :biglaugh:
My first Custom - 1984 Bighorn
2006 Robertson Pierce Point falcon
My Howatt Hunter for me. Its my first recurve.
My first self bow, and my first self made fiberglass lam bow.
The best bow that I regret selling the most out of 40 or so, would have to be my Great Northern Ghost recurve.

I'm keeping my Border longbow GL too. Oh, and my first bow-just because it was my first. Martin "Dream Catcher."
My Green Mt. Classic and my Howard Hill half Breed,a bow blank I finished out.
There is 2 actually. The first Dad picked out a week before he died,it has an inscription on the bow for him. The next one I have coming in another few weeks. This one my daughter picked out for me, and has an inscription on it as well. These bows are priceless to me, and they will be handed down to my daughter when I die.
the bow that started it all for me, a 62" snowshoe longbow. I also have 2 original silvertips that are off limits and hopefully my new silvertip that should be here tomarrow.
Both of my MOAB im thinking of ordering another.
My Massie Longhorn. Over the years, I have owned probably 8-10 Longhorns and no one makes 'em like Jeff did. This one has an all Bocote riser with the double blade swoop, Action-boo core lams with bamboo veneers and carbon in the limbs. She is 62" and 49# @ 28". Of all the bows I have owned (and there have been many) this is my all time "keeper".
The one I have the most pictures with...

My Fedora Xcellerator. My dad took me to Mike's for my 17th birthday and we helped build em. I also got my first deer with it.
I'm going with Vermonster on this one. Can't put it in writing or it may be used against me at another time :biglaugh:
I'll never get rid of my Bear Montana, its the bow that started me on my journey in all of this! This is the bow I killed my first buck with and it just a solid, hard hitting bow that shoots very well for me!
My mojo filled JD Berry Taipans will never leave.
My Leon Stewart longbow make from the prettiest birdseye maple I've ever seen; that one goes to whichever of my grandsons falls prey to this obsesssion of ours.
My three Dale Dye Trail's End recurves. Mainly because he's my hunting partner and I currently don't have to watch my back. I'd like to keep it that way!
Blacktail Elite! & Howard Hill Big 5. Frank
My first custom - Jerry Barr Thunder Mt. Lobo. 58" 52@28
I sold it once and kicked myself ever since. I was able to get it back a few months ago, and it will not leave me again.
all of them, so far.....
Mine would be three bows I don't shoot. Two Bob Jones bows, an elderly fella who lives within 15 miles of my house, a T/D recurve and a 1-PC Hill style LB, and a Bill Stewart Multicam T/D recurve. It has a rosewood riser, unusual for a Multicam bow built by Mr. Stewart, is 68" long, built as a target bow for a fella out W, and the limbs are mounted on the belly side of the riser, not the norm for Mr. Stewart.
Outside of that, I've come to know to NEVER say this shooter bow is a keeper and I'll NEVER sell or trade it. I've repeated the course of breaking promises like that more times than I can count! :)
Bill
My Widow PTF, and my Dave Johnson Thunderbird. Others could be on the block at any given time.
My Voodoo Kustom is here to stay....
The two I am shooting right now. The first is a Black Widow PLGA. I have always had a thing for Black Widows. Knowing this, my wonderful wife and daughter bought me a Golden Anniversary Widow. This last season is accounted for one squirrel, one rabbit and 2 whitetails. This bow is a true pleasure to shoot and will always be with me.
The second bow is an A&H ACS CX. This I bought from John at Compton in 2006. It is hands down the finest shooting bow I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. It is the older style narrower limbs design with bamboo cores and I really prefer this over the newer style. My wife said that she new after the first arrow I shot from this bow that I needed to buy it. She said she could tell by the look on my face. I still get that same look of amazement on my face everytime I shoot it, after it being on the wall for a little while.
well let me see mmmmmmmmmmmmm that would have to be the ONLY BOW I GOT LEFT :biglaugh: LOL!!!!
I have probably said i will never trade or sell this one before. Some of those bows outgrew me though.
I got a Frederick Longbows 50s style recurve that I want to hang on to for an hierloom for my bow.
Has sentimental value and as far as I know I got the only one ever made.
Its handsome, smooth quiet, fast and weighs just a little over a pound.
This bows unique as well in that its 1 and 1/8th wide at the fades and tapers nicely to very tiny tips and is very deep cored.Three lams of Bamboo black glass and Gaboon Ebony riser. Its a true keeper for me!
My Horne Combo Longbow, first custom bow I ever ordered & my Shaun Webb selfbow.
LOL barring some sentamental reason like ya got it from your dad or something their all for sale if somebody is silly enuff to put up the right $$ and even then it may still be for sale My dad would be pissed if I turned down 10-20 grand for a pc of wood LOL now we just gotta get somebody silly enuff
Great Northern Bushbow 64" 53@28"
My Steve Gardner bamboo backed osage
68" and 55#@28

Well, I've traded every bow I said I'd never trade. So if I answered now, I'd probably be lying.
My Widow and my Bear Tigercat (first trad bow and first kill with it)
My Black Widow PSA V it represents a 17 year wait to get it.
The wife and i rasied 6 kids on a shoe string budget. I would save a little here and there but with 6 kids something would always come up and i would have to dip in and spend the Widow savings, well in 2005 the last son moved out and buy then the wife and i had climed up the ladder in our jobs. About 6 months after our last son moved out and right about Christmas my wife says "why dont you get that bow you have always wanted for Christmas" I gave her a big hug and kiss and did just that. It took 17 years but i got my Widow so i think i will hold onto this one.
2 bows i have held on to and have no plans of getting rid of are a Rocky Miller Heritage Mtn.Bow My first "Custom" (taken several animals with that one , and a Robertson Vision Falcon IV. (Seems i have a thing for Montana made bows!!)
I have two I wouldn't sell. Sky Hawk I got right before Earl passed away that was my first custom. The other being a Sky Rogue I got right before they quit making them that Anne signed.
My Widow PTFX. There are a few more that I might list, but I might weaken if the right deal came along. The Widow, not going anywhere.
Don't ever say never, BUT, I don't plan on ever getting rid of my Arkansas Stick Caddo Longbow by Terry Hughes. It's 58" 52# at 28". It's the one bow that seems to shoot where I point the most.
BOB
hey Arky how about a pic of that stick
My Kohannah Windwalker. 1st Custom I had made for me. 66" 53# @ 29".
I have sold or traded for over 140 bows over the years. I have 2 though that I would never trade or sell. My RER Arroyo, just because for a 54" bow it shoots like a 62"er and ishoot it darn good. The other is a bow that I won from RER bows at the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt, an RER XR recurve and it is inscribed "Bunny Bow"!! OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
My grandfather's recurve.
I have two. My Cheyenne and my Silvertip.
My very first custom bow I sold ...I regret it over and over. It was a Martin Sabar with my name on it " Steve Soden". Shot my first Trad deer with it, a mulie. Maybe someday I'll find her again ;(
The first bow I ever made with my mentor Bob Hawkinson in Trout Creek, MT.. made lots, bought a few and sold all of them over the last 3 years..but will never get rid of that one...
Ernie
This one for my longbow:

I'm with Bob here. Never say never but I'd really hate to part with either of my Terry Hughes Arkansas Sticks.
Jason Westbrook,
That looks like a Root. What model, lenght and #? I had one of them in the 60s.
My Checkmate Hunter II sweet shooting bow that one is.
Daren
thanks bow and powduck. is terry still making them?
Terry is now making bows under the name of Bull Mountain. He lives in Gurdon, Ar. I don't have a number for him. He sold out to Roy Hall (Navaho Bows) several years ago and my understanding is that he just recently started making bows again. I'm thinking about contacting him and having him build a custom bow for me. Archer's Adavantage had a couple of his new bows a few weeks ago when I was in there but I don't know if they are still there. Where are you located? Maybe we can get togather and shoot sometime. See Ya
BOB
I would never sell my Centaur dbl carbons, Silvertips or Morrisons. Sold my pronghorn 3piece a few years ago, big mistake.
My JavaMan Sweet-Grass longbow and a longbow that was given to me and made by John Rafferty called "Legend". They will be passed down after I leave this place and thats the only way they'll leave.
I'll never say never, as soon as I do I'll find something I shoot even better and want to trade for it.
Bob, I am in Little Rock. that would be cool i have wanted to go shoot out at mayflower. maybe meet up sometime.
Sounds good, I live about 3 miles from the range at Mayflower. Can be there in no time.
BOB
For me it would have to be the Osage Stotler game getter. (http://images.imagelinky.com/1236869144.jpg) (http://images.imagelinky.com/1236869144.jpg)

Good eye. It's a Root Game-Master, 62", 45#@28".
My first custom was a Bighorn from back in the 80's. Sold it a few years ago and wish I had it back in tact. Was in terrific shape with my name on it.
Louis
my breed take down , it has killed a moose and caribou!

Hey Jason, I remember that article you did for TBM about hunting with your grandpa's bow. It was a very good article! By coincidence I just traded another Trad Ganger for a Root Gamemaster. I actually was not even sure what they looked like when I made the trade ... I hope the one that is coming looks as good as your grandpa's!
There are two bows I will never trade. The 1st is my Robertson Vision Falcon that was custom made for me as the result of me winning a raffle at our state bowhunters convention. I have shot quite a few critters with it including my best whitetail and my 1st bull elk.
The second bow I will not trade is my BigEast that I got from Gene Charbonneau. I like that Big East so much the Robertson has been in semi-retirement the last two years. I was offered $1200.00 for the BE about a year ago but turned down the offer. I know $1200.00 is quite a bit more than its fair market value but it would take an awful lot more than that to get me to part with that bow.
I'm betting 1 decimal point over would sell it right quick :biglaugh:
Is that an offer swampbuck? :bigsmyl:
I too own a 1984 curved limb bed Bighorn TD. In Sept. of that year my cousin,a hunting buddy and i traveled to Wyoming and hunted with Steve Gore on the Smith sheep ranch. We were all successful in harvesting a pronghorn. We were able to meet Denny Beane, his wife and John Rook.
I don't think i will ever be interested in selling or giving away that bow.
My 2008 shane hyme hybrid. I had it built right after my grandpa died. Its named grandpa that way ill always be able to hunt with my grandpa. R.I.P.
Black Widow MA111 62" 51@30 that I bought new in 1998.
I have two bows I won't part with. The first is a 45# Ben Pearson recurve that I killed my first deer ever with (10 point buck). The other is my Howard Hill Wesley Special - I just like it!
My Copperhead Widows.
Everything is for sale!
Them some fine widders there Otto.RC
It took me over 2 years to find these copperhead skins, and 2 years to finish the prototype titanium hinge in this bow. I will be my long term hunting partner, only to be retired to my trophy room. Oh ya I harvested a gnarley looking dead osage stump that I cut these veneers from. The bow is named "I'm Not Worthy".

The Bow in my Avatar. It was the last bow I made and my favorite. I will hand it to my son one day when he is old enough to draw the weight.
Longbowjim
That is a sweet looking bow there brother. Any chance of posting pics of it strung??
Mississippi Lake Longbow.. it was my Army retirement gift to me...from me.
A J D Berry Longbow made in 1993 and a bow I made in 1996 a Dan Berry Tucannon longbow.
I have my brothers bear grizzly 45#. He bought it new in 1967 from Bear Archery Center in Grand Rapids, Mi. Then was drafted and went to Viet Nam in 1969 and was killed there in Feb. 1970. He never had the chance to kill a deer with the bow. I have taken 1 with it, but don't shoot it anymore, because I don't want anything to happen to it. I believe the only way I will part with this bow is if my grandson someday shows an interest in it. He was born Feb. 25th, 39 years, to the day after the original owner owner was killed.
I would say the one I am shooting today but it could be gone next month. To me they are all just sticks and strings and I have loved them all at one time or another! Lol! The one I own and would probably keep is a BBIpe longbow made for me by my friend Bob Barnes. She is 66" 46#@28" and still a sweet shooter for sure! I had'nt shot her in quite some time so I got her out the other day. She still knows how to find that bulls eye!
-Leonard-
It would be my first bow made for me by my cusin 15yrs ago, i taken my 1st buck with this bow of any weapon. Its the bow that got me started an it showed me how to hunt.. I`ll never sell it, its been retired for 10yrs now an hangs in my room.
I have two I will never part with. Both selfbows I made and both harvested bucks!
There have been many I would never part with. Somehow that never works and they are gone, I miss many, but onward and upward.
My dads bear grizzly that Fred Bear signed for me! Also don't think I would part with my Ancient Spirits Kadiak.
this is easy, a hickory bamboo backed bow that was a gift thats shoots GREAT what a joy to play with :bigsmyl:

But, My Brackenbury Quest,Blacktail Elite VL,Zipper SXT,Cari-Bow Taiga, and Charlie Lamb Sunbear are not going anywhere. Oh, and my Bear Type 1 T/D A riser.
Danny
black mountain sheepeater shaman, this was the maker's personal bow and he gave me an amazing deal on it, so that is THE ONE that I would never sell
I'm expecting my first custom(that I ordered), this week. Centaur Carbon Elite, I've shot alot of bows the last couple years,(looking for that one bow), but I always come back to Jim's bows,IMO, nothing compares to the Centaur's!
Jr.
My harrison longbow that my daughter "got" me for my first fathers day
Well I guess I'd have to say my BigHorn 2000 Special Edition. If it had been made just for me it wouldn't fit any better. What can I say, I fell in love with that bow the first time I ever saw it. :archer:
Longbowjim
Gorgeous man...just gorgeous.
I wouldn't ever part with that one either!!!
Triple carbon Habu Vyperkahn darn thing shoots,Elk anntler Zipper gift,All curly maple Zipper my favorite looking bow,and Fredrick longbow bought for $90.00 and couldn't replace it for that.
It's actually two bows that are on my "get buried with me" list. My first love and the bow that kept me from turning away from archery altogether when I got burned out on gadgets, an Appalachian Archery Middle Mountain longbow.
The second is the only bow I ever had that was made for me, my Whisperstik Mojo. I had gotten to know JD Lund as a friend and told him to make the bow that he would make for himself, one that showed his talents to the utmost. What arrived was both a testament to his art and as perfect a bow as I've seen. It's like he knew exactly what I wanted better than I did. It was what I never knew that I always wanted, if that makes any sense.
Hey Otto! I have another set of copperheads and some osage from the same tree when you are ready for one. JD
My very first bow, is NOT for sale.
I bought it this week! :)
Mid 70's Bear Kodiak from the original owner.
I would say my Acadian woods Treestick that I have had for a long time , but .... I just sold it !
as some of you know i will sell almost anything. but a couple yrs ago my son and i bought a shrew on here. it wasn't the shrew that we were the most interested in (although that sure didn't hurt anything). but it was the seller that interested us the most. we bought the bow from camo cowboy, which just happens to be jim bowman. ever since my son was very young (he is 9 now)and we would go to 3D shoots together quite often. we would listen to jim's music all the way there and back. my son learned his songs and loved to sing along. anyways, after we got the shrew jacob (my son) and i cleaned it up and resealed it together. that bow became a trophy in jacob's eyes. then when we went to compton that next year i took the shrew with us. after jim bowman's saturday concert jacob and i asked him if he could autograph our shrew for us. even as busy as he is he took some time for us. he made jacob's entire summer. jim bowman is definitely a great representative for our sport and a wonderful, talented, and giving person. we still listen to jim's music and share the story of our bow. I WILL NEVER TRADE OUR LITTLE SHREW. tim and jacob.

I have many that I wont trade for obvious reasons....so I can't just say one.
I've killed three 10 pointers the last two seasons with 3 different bows(1 recurve and 2 different longbows), and a bruiser boar hog with one of those same longbows. None of those bows are going anywhere.
I killed my Bday hog and Bday 8 pointer with the same bow that was different than the ones above, so it aint going anywhere. Matter of fact, I've killed so many animals with it including other deer, hogs, javelinas, and an antelope, that a friend of mine JC deemed a name for that bow....'Zip Code'. Joe said if I'm hunting with that bow that I can kill any animal as long as it in the same zip code. ;>)
I also killed 3 hogs on one hunt with Ray Hammond with a bow not mentioned yet and it was the 1st time afield with that bow. Not for sale.
I also have a bow I made a great running shot on an angora goat near Pecos TX.....it aint going anywhere.
I also have a Charlie Lamb Sunbear that I killed 3 hogs with on the same hunt....and that was that bows 1st time afield....it aint going anywhere.
I have a longbow mot mentioned above that I killed a 2000# American Bison with that aint going anywhere.
And I have my 1st custom bow I ever got...it aint leaving either.
I have another hybrid longbow not mentioned yet that killed two hogs and two rabbits on the 1st day of my 1st TX Sweat.
Might be a couple more ....but its late, and I'm whooped!
I'll never trade the North American Flatbow Jay St. Charles helped me build. Great guy, beautiful bow.
My first custom bow.A 54",one piece Bighorn, ordered the second year they were in business.I think I got it in '79.They didn't make them too long. Not sure when they were discontinued. (http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a140/jbrandenburg/Scan0003-10.jpg)
My first is a recurve bow I built in 1968 while still in high school that "started it all" for me.
Next would be my 2 piece Griffin with Tamo Ash Veneers and my "B" riser Mesquete [sp?] Morrison Shawnee with C Dakota limbs
Gene :wavey:
I forgot one when I put my last bow one the list. A 60# osage selfbow with canebrake skins my by a good friend of mine in Texas.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll66/jdwhisperstik/DSC01520.jpg
Rocky Mountain recurve. 60" 65#@28". I've had it so long, can't remember not having it.
