My boys and I took advantage of the nice day (albeit a windy one) we had today and shot a few stumps. Many thanks to broketooth for giving my kids the takedown recurve. They really love it and I am indebted to ya, my friend. And thanks in advance for the longbow that is coming as a gift to them as well. My daughter is looking forward to staking her claim on that one when it gets here.
Would have taken more pics, but my batteries ran down

Oh, why that's my Predator at rest. It has to rest sometimes from all the game that Andy Ivy(aka tradtusker) has killed with it when in Africa and who knows where else! After much rest, it'll be called upon this spring to labor after some sweeet carp!
Looks like fun! You´re all shooting with three fingers under the nock? I wondered why so.
Good stuff!
Saumensch (I feel bad calling you that!), there are two main ways that western archers hold the string - split finger (a little more popular, overall, according to various polls on forums), and three-under (as above). It's a matter of personal preference. I enjoyed reading T.J. Conrads' write-up about the traditional bowhunting festival he attended in Germany - do you kick-around with those fellows? Anyway, good luck as you shoot, and I hope the authorities come to the party to allow bowhunting for you in the near future. Weidmansheil!
what great pics doug! looks like you boys had a great time shootin yesterday. it also looks like you got a great patch of woods to shoot in too' not to loaded up with the thick stuff.im workin on gettin the long bow to ya also

I like shooting this way because it keeps the arrow closer to my line of sight/target center, and makes me a better shooter because of it. I switched from split finger to 3 under many years ago and never looked back.

@ Ben: dont feel bad, its my nickname round here.
I know about the ways to hold the string, but as I learned once it negatively affects the tiller with three down, i never new if this was right, so just wondered.
No, I dont know these guys, I keep shooting pretty much to myself. and I dont belief that in a time before the next Ice Age Bowhunting will be allowed in germany, old fashioned never changing small minded hunting lobby, you know.
But for me there is hope, pretty sure Ill be in Oz next winter.
sorry for Offtopic
Heckuva way to spend a day
