Title: Cutting Fiberglass Arrows
Post by: Burnsie on March 07, 2009, 07:09:00 PM
Anyone got some advice for the best way to cut a solid fiberglass fishing arrow?  Brought one to the local archery shop and they couldn't do it, it bogged down their high speed saw and all the fibers just frayed out into a puff ball. I used a copper tubing cutter, went slow to avoid building up heat and eventually got through, but it was a pretty nasty cut.

dremel tool with high speed cut off disc. Archery shop must not have been high speed heavy duty model.

Try wrapping with masking tape and cut with a hack saw. Rotate shaft as you cut. That's the method I use for cutting hollow fiberglass shafts.

use an angle grider with a skinny cut off disc. i've cut a heap of fibreglass walkway mesh. (the stuff used on mine sites in wet areas) it makes a clean cut. DO NOT BREATHE THE DUST!!
