Title: Naming my bow models
Post by: Apex Predator on March 06, 2009, 10:42:00 AM
I am thinking of naming my bow models, and thought I would bounce my ideas off of my friends here. Here is what I have in mind. All comments welcome.

My flagship bow will always be my straight Hill style longbow, since it is what I prefer. I will call it the Cumberland.

My mild R/D will be called the Sapelo.

My hybrid in the research and development stage will be called the Ossabaw.

All these names come from the barrier islands off Georgia's coast, where I have spent some of my best times.

Good choices.  Cumberland is also the name of a rare paleo-indian arrowhead

I've got a new friend helping me design a decal.  What do you guys think of this?  I know hogs aren't normally predators, but I like 'em.

How about bigger tusks and RED eyes??

You could also add, "Bows that put YOU at the top of the food chain!"  or some such in the logo.

I just wanted it as a sillouette, so that I could print some in white and some in black.  I think bigger tusks and colored eyes would have looked too cartoonish.

Nice names Marty. Very respectful of the local heritage. Interested in the new bow form. Need a sidekick to my MOAB with a southern flair.

I thought you might call them the Apex Predator series.  No matter what, people will spell them wrong on the internet forums.

Here is the blank that Brian ordered.  It has a wenge riser with an accent of black phenolic.  The phenolic looks grey when sanded but will darken to black when finished.  It will be really subtle.  The limbs are eastern red cedar over a bamboo core.  These photos were taken before I profiled the limbs.

You could expand the branding of your company name and call one model Apex and another model Predator.  Repeats the name individually and keeps your main name in the forefront too.

Since it is a business, I am assuming that having folks keep your name in mind for recall is important.  I really like the foundations for the other models you have named as well.

Best Wishes for your sucess!!!
