Just wondering what some of you are shooting and how many grains per pound is it for you.I'm shooting 566 and its 11.5 gpp.
My hunting arrows are 600g CX150 , 11.3 gpp out of a #53 Shrew. 765g ash, 12.3 gpp out of a #62 Robertson LB.
Eric
I usually shoot right around 9 gpp.
Rite around 10
53lbs - 425 gr arrow - 8gr/lb
600 to 700 grains -- 12 to 14 gpp out of low to upper 50s# bows.
44#s--510g ACC--145 WW
For the big game 38#s--250gs --ACE %>)
11.8
12.8
WESTBROOK, could you describe how you are getting 600grains with a 150? Sounds like something that would work great for me...Mike
Shot in the dark, but XX75-2317 sounds about right for aluminum. Would need inserts for carbon. Haven't played with wood in a while to be able to judge, but there used to be these shafts of 'forged wood' available that would probably make the 600+ mark easy enough.
8.2 gpp 430 grains from 52 lbs at 29" 198 fps.
630gr puts me around 11gpp
Not sure, but I would love to buy a grain scale someday to find out just what my arrows weigh.
-Charlie
between 10 and 12 gpp for me.
Mike
anywhere from 9-10gpp
9. Thought of adding fishing line or what not to make it 10 or 11 but I just remain unconvinced its being a 9 or 10 gpp will make a difference in a kill/not kill.
Around 10 gpp
I wouldnt worry too much about what weight in its own right beyond getting the bow to shoot quiet.(Although if you shouldnt be going under 9 gpp unless you really understand what your doing in which case you probably wont go that low)
I would be more concerned with
-tuning
-getting arrows that dont break
-getting a high FOC(which ties into tuning)
George, I have to give you one of my Sitka Spruces to check out. :saywhat: The grain scale is at work correct?
50# bear montana @28in, I currently shoot a CE 150 with about 180 on the end, but I am going to beef it up to around 600g before next season.
8-11gpp
Currently: 487 Gr., 55# so that's 8.85 gpp.
54# 610gr for 11.3gr/#
69# 790gr for 11.45gr/#
1.5 to 14! Depending on what I'm doing :) ...O.L.
:campfire:
My arrows weigh 515 grains. I could be wrong but I think the EASTON XX75 Gamegetter 500's are 10.6 gpi.( The 500's are the same as 2016's)
Any where between 8 and 12 for hunting depending on bow and what broadheads I want to use.I am not too concerned about where in that range they fall as long as the bow shoots them pretty quiet.
Just finished tuning a new to me MOAB. When I finished I came in to weigh the arrow. I'm pulling 57lbs. and oddly enuff it weighs 577. So 10 grains per pound.
9 to 10 works very well for me.
CX Heritage 350 31 in.long with 50 grain insert 150 grain BH and footed with 2 inches of 2212 aluminum 640 grains total and 11.4 GPP for me.
i'm always changing everything but currently i'm around 12.6gpp, that's working pretty good
