I've decided to dabble with some wood arrows. I'd like to reflech some. What is the best way to get the existing feathers off the arrow without damaging the wood.
Careful application of a very sharp knife (exacto or utility) along the edge of the feather to wood junction - like tying to slip the blade between the feather and the wood. Then clean up with fine sandpaper. I like fletch tape for the new feathers.
Pell if you can, sharp thin blade of some sorts if you can't.Carefull with the cutting. Then use the blade to scrap gent'lly.
Use fletch tape whan you refletch. It is a lot easier to remove later and makes fletching a piece of cake.
