Title: Nock inserts/adapters for carbon arrows
Post by: BowHuntingFool on March 03, 2009, 04:25:00 PM
I really love the Classic nocks on my wood arrows and would really like to use them with my carbon arrows as well. Any one have any experience with the glue on nock inserts/adapters? Do you have to glue the adapters into the shaft?

I use the ones 3 Rivers sells in my Carbon Express Heritage 150's. They work really well, and you do need to glue them in.

Joe,
I will have some at the WTA banquet.  I have used them on GT's and Hertiage shafts.  The adapters need to be glued into the shaft.  I also offer this as on option on my custom arrows.

3 rivers has em. They work in GT's, blackhawks etc. I use a small dab of hot melt to hold em in, then use mercury nocks. Love em. IIRC they weigh 6 gr

I was thinking about starting to use them on all my carbons. I like the push in nocks, but I do a lot of stump shooting with hard hitting bows. I foot the front but not the back(don't want to). So with a hard hit sometimes the nock will blow out and the back for the shaft cracks where the nock pushes in...

Do you think with a nock adapter epoxied in will keep the back of the shaft will hold up better?

Joe,
They are Product # 0149X, Carbon Express Nock Adapters. The nocks overhang the shaft a little bit, but I have never had a problem with them.

Curt,
I do epoxy mine in. I use Easton Hit insert 15 minute epoxy. That way if I take off a nock and damage the nock adapter, I can remove it with a little heat.

I shoot AD Trads and use this adapter to fit 5/16inch Mercury Speed nocks. I JB Weld the the adapter to the shaft and glue the nock to the adapter. It's about as bombproof as it gets for a nock.

I just ordered some myself yesterday. Didn't know about them until recently. I won't have to switch bows if I want to shoot carbons and then woodies! Got to love that.

Good idea Snag.  I have to change strings when I switch from one to the other.
