Title: ACS CX arrow help
Post by: A.S. on March 03, 2009, 02:08:00 PM
I'm looking for some help from all you ACS guys. My bow is 64", 49@27" (I'm drawing right at 26 1/2").

Just looking for carbon arrow suggestions. I would like to stay around 400 gr total and hopefully 27 1/2" arrow length (or there abouts).

Anyone out there with a similar setup?? Oh yeah, I'm shooting a 6 strand D97 string.

Thanks for any help,

Allen

I think an Easton Axis or Beman MFX will fly well for you in a 500 shaft.  The Beman will be a little heavier.

I think the 500 may be little stiff at your draw unless you put alot of weight up front whick may take you closer to 500+gr. Also look at the Epic 600, should work for you with that much weight up front.

Thanks guys, right now I'm shooting CE Thunderstorm SE's (530 spine) cut to 27 1/4". With a 125 gr point they spine good, but are a bit light and don't group well. When I put a 145 gr point on they spine weak, but actually group much better. I even cut one down to 26 1/2" and it still bare shafts weak.

Oh yeah, with the 10 strand string that came with it, my shafts work fine. I just loose a bit of performance.

Allen,
The CE Heritage 90's might work well for you Those Heritage shafts are about all I shoot now because of the additional gpi and they are really tough.  The 90's spine at .530 and are 9.4 gpi.  I have some that are 29" BOP and with a wrap, three 4" feathers, and a 125 grain point, weigh in at 441 grains.  If you cut them back to the 27 1/2" you are looking for, you should be real close to the weight you want and spine out just like you current arrows.

Chris, yeah the Heritage 90's are the same thing as mine (.530 spine), just with the wood grain finish, although mine are 8.6 gpi.

I took off the 6 strand string and went back to my 10 strand and it settled everything right back down.

When I first got this bow I was driving tacks with it. I later made the 6 strand string and my groups have not been what they should be, even though my bare shaft shoots good. I guess the skinny string was just putting too much horsepower into my shafts.....  :banghead:

I have 5 dozen arrows all the same, so I really don't want to buy new arrows just to get a couple more fps out of this bow.

She's back to shootin' like an ACS now!!
