Title: Longbow & 55/75 Arrows?
Post by: elknut1 on March 02, 2009, 12:35:00 PM
Hey guys! I'm shooting a Longbow double carbon limbs at 56#-57# @ 27"  my son is shooting a 60# Drifter Brackenbury recurve at a full 28"

We've shot aluminum & woods up till now but are both interested in carbons with 200 grains or so up front for head weight. He would cut his aprox 29 1/2" but I would cut mine aprox 28" both would use about same head weight. Will the 55/75 work out in your guesstimation or would 35/55 be the answer? Spine stiffness is my concern.

Right now for mine 2018 work great for 200 grains up front @ 27 1/2"---Thanks!

55/75 should be the ticket. I shoot 60/64 cedars, 2018 aluminum and TradLites out of a very similar set-up.

I shoot 55/75 Gold tips with a similar bow weight and similar weight up front. They fly great.

I shoot a 60lbs carbon longbow @ 27'' and the 55/75 cut   27 1/2'' W/ A 200GR point tunes very well.My guess you'll be close but may want to start anther 1/2'' longer.The 55/75 spine closer to a 2216.Don't know the deflection of a 2018?

I had the CX arrows in that weight and thought they were too stiff.  I had better luck w/4560's but didn't have that much weight up front.

Have your draw and a heavier bow, but made the mistake of cutting them to what I wanted.  Should have bareshafted first.

You guys are great!! This is what I was hoping for!!! (grin) A little reassuring!! Thanks!!!

LKH, I agree, I have some CX here in 60/75 they are much too stiff, the 45/60 sounds about right!
