Title: Are all GT Shafts created equal?
Post by: Glenn Hickey Jr. on March 02, 2009, 12:04:00 PM
I'm presently shooting GT 5575 Traditionals that I have bare shafted to my BW and work great. Over the weekend I bought a dozen GT 5575 XT Hunters and was wondering... will the same setup shoot the same as the Traditionals or do I need to bare shaft the Hunters?

You need to spine all of both sets to see if they are the same spine. Also I would weight each to see if they are the same. If all are the same they should shoot the same! A few years ago some were made in Mex. and some in USA and they would not match up(on the XT). Ken

According to GoldTip's    arrow specification chart (http://www.goldtip.com/_downloads/GT_arrowSpec.pdf) , the two shafts are slightly different in weight and outside diameter.  I think you will probably end up bare shaft tuning the new ones just for the fun of it.   ;)

Bareshaft by all means. There's a huge difference in spine from the XT hunters to the traditionals and the XT Pro's. These were my findings. I had tried to switch from traditional to XT hunters and had to bareshaft, big difference, then I went from the hunters to the xt pros and found an even bigger difference in spine. I bareshaft anyway so it's all good!

check them! had some black 3555 expedition hunters and then bought some 3555 expedition hunters in camo. they were less gr/" and were weaker. had to cut them 1/2" shorter to get them the same as the blacks

As most of you know we sold thousands of these shafts the past 6 years. There was a time period when some shafts were being mis-marked, we found some 5575 labeled as 3555 etc. I think it was shafts made back in 2006. I do not remember for sure.
I believe that this was corrected shortly after discovery as we found none after those few batches were found.
I will add that the quality of the Gold Tip shafts has improved during the past couple of years.
There is a difference in weight between the camo, trads and black shafts. The same spine shaft will shoot is differently (black, camo, trad) due in part to the weight difference in the shafts.
