I bid on a seal skin coat at ****. Forgot to check back and the thing went for around $50. Talk about a missed opportunity.

If you want seal skin, buy what you can find.  AK Bowhunting has had a hard time finding a dependable supplier.  Seal skin can only be harvested by natives.

But Black Widow has some.

Bob,

Is it the lush thick seal skin or the thinner seal skin like some of the trad stores sell?  I see some nice lush seal skin that some bowyers use, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I just purchased two complete seal skins tanned and dyed black from one of the auction houses that sells wild fur. I should have enough to last twenty years or so.

Dan,

Glad to hear about the seal hunt. Does that mean we can get some seal skin soon, and if so, where?

I found 3 packages, each containing a 2.5" x 2.5" piece of sealskin, at my local Cabela's (Richfield, WI) last night.

That's the good news.  The bad news is that they were on closeout.

In Canada, we can buy seal skin from just about any place that sells tan hides, leather....unfortunately, we cannot export to the USA because of laws in the USA...sorry guys  :banghead:
