Title: Weather's effect(s) on the traditional bowhunter?
Post by: GMMAT on March 02, 2009, 12:49:00 AM
So you've ordered and received your new custom wood traditional bow.

You've waxed your string.

What else is required to hunt adverse weather with this tackle?

Are the woods weather-tight/proof?  We'll leave arrows out of this.

I ask, only because I have NO IDEA....lol.  I would assume the woods are coated/treated, but again I'd only be assuming.

Thanks.

You should be just fine to go as is. If you ever end up with a bad ding or scrape that removes finish down to wood, just spray it with some spray on varathane and your good to go again. Most hunting will scratch up a bow in time. I send mine back to the bowyer every couple years for a refinish job $100.00 or so, then they look good as new again for a short while.
