Title: A Cold Afternoon of Stumpin'
Post by: Guru on March 01, 2009, 04:28:00 PM
What a difference a day makes! Friday we were sweating in light cloths....

Yesterday it was downright cold and getting colder by the minute!

As you can see we still have some snow in the shady and north facing hills.....

I decided to outfit a pack for him to carry on our outings. All the needed items, TP, his custom "Jeremy knife" and backup pocket knife, headlamp and back up flashlight, rope, water bottle, snacks, compass, lighter, etc....he thinks it's pretty cool.

"Juuust a bit outside".....

Gotta work on getting him some weaker wood arrows...

We have to work on his camera skills(one of about five pix with no head)....

This pic showed me something we have to work on....his head is in an opposite tilt than his upper body and bow getting eye away from being over the arrow....

We ran into a couple ice fisherman....

The spot is a cool little funnel, but with few deer around it's hard to justify hunting there. But there are some bucks around...

Snack and water break....

Bingo!
 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/Guru39/shooting/th_stumps2-28007.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v77/Guru39/shooting/?action=view¤t=stumps2-28007.flv)

Luv this pic....

One we both got.....

You can see his opposite head tilt here too. But as he pointed out..."I hit it though"...
 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/Guru39/shooting/th_stumps2-28017.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v77/Guru39/shooting/?action=view¤t=stumps2-28017.flv)

Almost dark,it was time to head home. One last rub...

I really enjoy your posts with you and Cade. I can tell it's something you want to do, not something you feel you have to do. Your time is the best thing that you can give your kids.

Fantastic deal Curt. Enjoy the boy, wish I had one to pass it on to. My daughter is 10 now and acts like she's interested but the jury is still out on that one.

TJ, My daughter asks to shoot more than Cade! Every day we shoot in the garage, she can't get enough, but she's only 4 1/2....

Guru...that boy is going to put a first class beat down on you some day real soon from the looks of it.  I'm getting my kids into it this summer and I'm taking them both turkey hunting this spring, daughter is 6 and my son is 5 so it's going to be a blast.

I've always enjoyed your threads on taking Cade to the woods and shooting, keep up the great work.

Josh

Great pics Curt, I  took the boys cmpng/stumpin friday and we had a riot. Good times for sure. After the long winter, t sure is nice to peel them away from the video games and get some fresh air, exercise and bust on some stumps.
