Title: What can I do in NY?
Post by: nightowl1 on February 26, 2009, 08:40:00 PM
I'm headed to NY next week for work. It will be my first time anywhere close to the Northeast. I might have a day for relaxing. Any recommendations?

Big bow shops? Scenic Drive? Someone to shoot some bows with?

You can come shovel my driveway, that's always fun!    :bigsmyl:    On the way over to VT, you could do a little ice fishing on Champlain.

Bring your bow.  Thursday night at Lemme's archery is trad night shooting the technohunt.

 Lemme\\'s (http://www.lemmesarcherysports.com/)

I'd also suggest a long drive into the Adirondaks.  Route 30 up to Blue Mt. Lake and the Adirondak Museum.

Small game seasons end on Saturday.  Should have been here last week for the JLMBH.

I got to get to Lemmes for that Thursday shoot!

Check out the New York State Museum in downtown Albany. I always enjoy the Native American exhibit.

Definitely bring your bow.

Defineately drive up into the adirondacks, 6 million acres, and it's all free for you to enjoy. You'll learn NY is a heck of alot more than NYC. I second the NYS museum in Albany, I was always facinated by the indian exhibits and the mastodon as a kid. To find it, just look for the giant egg in albany :-) Enjoy our state, and take back some good memories, upstate NY really is a great place.

Delmonico's on Central Ave. It's an excellent Italian steak house. Only 3
min from the airport.

Ditto what Guspup said.  I spent a few years in upstate New York at Ft. Drum.  It's cold, but pretty.  The mountians are great.  Go check them out.  That's how I spent my weekends.

Another vote for Delmonico's...

There is a lot to do around Albany. Mario at Lemme's cant be beat when it comes to talking and shooting trad. The guys that go on Thursdays are all a great group...I will make it one day.

You could also check out Lake George, Saratoga....all depends on what you want to see and do.

And, yes, bring your bow.

I'm an hour north of Albany, feel free to get ahold of me. What are you going to be doing on the barges and how long will you be around?

Go to the Stuyvesant Plaza Mall and have a real treat at Bountiful Bread. Best sandwiches and baked goods around. Panera Bread, eat your heart out!

Agreed.Great places to visit.A tour of the fort in LG is a cool deal if you're in to american history.LG also has a ton of other stuff to do there.About an hour and a half to two hours up the northway depending on how much of a lead foot you've got.   :D

I'm hoping to have a day somewhere in there to play. WIll definitly give you a call shawn. I would love the chance to check out the US History stuff but I can't pass the opportunity to view some mountains and water with someone who knows the area

If you really want to see mountains while in NYC, you should visit Larry Flynts Hustler Club. You won't be disappointed, and you might be able to write it off as a business lunch.
