Some of the most popular models of RER bows have some new siblings! The LX 3 piece longbow, and the XR recurve lines has been expanded to include a compact riser version of each.
The new models are the CLX and the CXR, with the C designating the compact riser which is 2" shorter than the originals. The limbs used on the new bows are the same static tip limbs used on the LX and XR, so the shorter riser simply reduces the overall length of the bows by 2 inches.
With the new shorter risers it is possible to have a shorter overall bow and still have a full working limb. I have a 29" draw, and have a 56" CXR here that is one of the smoothest drawing short recurves I have ever had my hands on.

Here is the new CXR riser next to an XR. To shorten the riser the sight window was decreased by one inch, and the area directly below the grip was reduced by one inch.

Awesome, what are the specs on that gray bow? That would be a dandy in a turkey blind...Mike
That little sweetie is 56" and 41# @ 28", and what a joy to shoot she is!
Good stuff!
That little sweetie is a beauty!
Very nice...wait until my dad hears about these
Hope you don't have a lefty :)
Looking good Joe!!
Excellent....My favorite bows are very short risered with long limbs...awesome little bows!
Cool looking set-up Joe.
very nice, I will have to try both risers/bows next weekend at the TBOF shoot.
I'm with Curt, I prefer the short risered bows for hunting in our thick treestands. Good looking stuff.
That is soo cool. I need to place an order for a C riser.
Whip im gonna PM you.
Beautiful bows!Wish they were going to be at Cloverdale.
Are those risers (and limbs) slim (thin)? In other words, more like a 3 pc Pronghorn or more like a Robertson?
THATS IT!!! thats the kind of look i have been lookin for!! boy thats a beauty whip. i'll take that in a 55# @28" thank you very much!!! love the looks of the grey, WOW, im droolin!!!!!!
gaff
Molson, I don't have a Pronghorn or a Robertson to compare it to, so not exactly sure. I did own a Robertson recurve once and as I recall that is quite a bit larger riser than the RER XR or CXR's which are slim and sleek. The closest thing I can think of to compare them to for size would be a Morrison Shawnee.
bowtough, I plan to be at Compton for sure, and might have to look into doing Cloverdale as well. If that happens I'll be sure to post it here!
Whip, hope you dont mind me posting this pic. this angle shows the sizing difference better to me.

Slim and sleek is good!
All the fanciness aside, will any particular limb core provide better performance?
Joe, you might have already mentioned this but are the limbs the same? So can I take the limbs from my LX and put them on a CLX riser? Also could you still put the recurve and longbow limbs on the same riser and make is a CLXR? Thanks in advance.
Tim
Tim, the limbs of a CLX are the same limbs as the LX. However, since RER's are made by hand and not CNC machined, the limbs are not necessarily interchangable between risers. In other words, the limbs are made to fit the riser.
A new set of limbs can be made to fit a specific riser. Making a new riser to fit an existing set of limbs can also be done, but we really don't have them priced out that way at this point. If you seriously would like to look into the possibility give me a call.
The bow pictured here is just the second one out of the shop for the new series. I just listed it in the sponsor classifieds this morning.

There is one other one in stock right now that is the first prototype. I think that one is a 58", and approx. 48# @ 28"
The "C" series sure seems to have generated some interest, so will likely see more of them coming out for the in stock inventory and to take to shows this summer.
O great, I'm going to the TBOF shoot in Fla. and had my mind all most made up on what I thoght I wanted from RER and now this, more choices. I think you guys do this on purpose..LOL. Such hardships.
Thanks Joe.
That's awesome! I remember Kevin telling me he was working out the kinks on the shorter riser, looks like he's got it solved.
Good afternoon Joe What is the c-riser site window dim.and did I understand it is 13"long and std. is 15".Kip
up for a sweet bow!!! i took the plunge and ordered one this morning. i cant wait, 56" 55# greywood like the pic. :jumper:
gaff
WOOOFAAAA! Grey Dymondwood and Black Glass Limbs! Nice. :notworthy: Whip 27" draw what length Longbow would I need?
Hey Bentpole, you have to get in line behind me...
LOL..
Hey Kip, how's my cajun buddy doing? Good to hear from ya!
From the arrow shelf to the top of the sight window measures 2 3/4". The Compact riser is 13", versus 15" for the XR and LX riser.
bentpole, the shortest CLX is 58", and should be good with draws out to 28". I was shooting that 56" CXR last night with my 29" draw and it's smooth as silk all the way back.
Mitch - better get that deposit in before he jumps in line in front of you! :D
Now he needs to Shorten the limbs up so he can get down to 56" and it would be the bow of my dreams!! LOL
Keep that spending going and we'll be out of the recession in no time.
I just got off the phone with Kevin. I am liking these bows but none in stock that will work for me. Great bows guys!! I am gonna buy a new one in the morning I believe. Shawn

That's the attitude Bruce! :bigsmyl:
Joe I am doing O.K. but you are living the life we talked about in Quebec (good for you) I hope to be doing the same in a few.Hope we take a few trips together. Now back to the bows they are nice I have got to try a 15" riser I think 13" to small for me.Man they look good.Take care Kip
NICE BOWS I'll go see my banker tomorrow or maybe
Obama for my stimulus bow package
Looks like I'm going shopping AGAIN! Gotta love them RERs.
I like the lighter bulk of the shorter riser TD bows. Kind of the best of both worlds to me--more stability from the heavier riser compared to a one-piece longbow yet not so heavy that I get tired out carrying it all day. I also like shorter bows for hunting and this also allows for that shorter overall length.
Great job, Kevin, I like this new RER. Even so, I'm not ready to trade off my Vortex quite yet.
I got an email from Kevin saying my exisitng LXR limbs would have an increase of draw weight by 3#s if I had a C riser made for them.
My current set up is 62" 49# @28" longbow and 60" 48# @28" recurve limbs.
That's a awesome looking bow. Not that the LX was anything but superb.><>
Joe, All I can say is WOW.
Bill
Whip looks like I'll have to wait for a stimulus check. :readit: :saywhat: :knothead: :biglaugh:
I just bought a new LX that was shipped this am. The new bows are sweet, but Kevin said they have a very small sight window and I need a big picture, so I went with an all bacote LX 62"s and 55#s at 28"s. It is listed in the sponsor classifieds if ya want to see it! Shawn
By the way this makes the 5th. RER that I own and no other customs. Shawn
Here are the rest of the pictures of your new bow Shawn.
Looks like I need to get to work and add some more bows to the Sponsor Classifieds - not vary many left over there anymore! I took some new pictures of bows today and will add more this weekend.

That is the prettiest peice of Bocote I have ever seen!!
Lewy I must agree. Those veneers are outstanding. Congrats shawn.<><
Those limbs are nice frank but the grain on the Shelf side of that riser is SAWEET!!!!
Wow, ya had to go and do that!! I was already excited about getting it now I may go out of my mind!! Hope it makes it by Monday!! Shawn
Nobody can blend a riser overlay quite as well as Kevin. Adds a nice touch to his workmanship. Chad
Man Shawn that's sharp! I guess we'll both be watching for the mail man Monday.
Your Right on with that Chad. Kevin does some of the best Overlays out there. Everything about there bows are top notch. Lewis your just ya boho LOL! Almost as bad as Shawn.<><
Sigh....its true! LOL
:readit:  :banghead: <><
Frank, I have slowed down a lot on the bow thing. I once went thru 110 bows in a 5 year period. Kevin has saved me so to speak. Since I started shooting his bows 3 years ago, I have only went thru about 10!! That is what his bows will do to ya, make ya realize what a good thing you have got! Dave, lets hear how she shoots when ya get it!! Shawn
I don't think you will ever stop buying bows Shawn, slow down a liiiittttle maybe, but I don't ever see you stopping.....
David
That's a beauty bud!!

Well, I had the privilege to shoot this particular bow today and I tell ya, for the DW it sure is a shooter! As a matter of a fact, every RER bow I shot today were ALL shooters! The grip on these bow just fit ya like a glove! Every bow I shot, when I picked it up my hand went right where it was supposed to!
I could easily give Shawn (or anyone) a run for how many bows I've owned, shot, etc...I just picked up a Arroyo from Joe, may grab another from the in stock and just gotr on the list for a CXR or XR.
These bows point, perform (speed, quiet, vibration, etc) and look real good. You'd be hard pressed to find one better. Kevin, Sue and Joe are as easy to deal with as can be possible and will do whatever to make it what you are wanting.
All around great company.
I had internet troubles and haven't gotten the Sponsor Classifieds updated. Back on now, so will have it yet today.
Joe, I'll see if I can find a 62" low 50# bow to put up for you to drool on for awhile! ;)
